Cool rear subframe bolts

2015 mcs 4 door. swapping the rear sway bar. have found a few threads about it but no information on the subframe bolts themselves. if im looking at the correct bolts mine are a torx bolt. does that sound correct? cant find any info on that itself. everything ive read says 13mm so i thought i may be looking at the wrong bolts. but it looks that i need extension to reach the outer subframe bolts with the impact gun. but then can you even use an impact with torx sockets? really starting to change my mind with this one. any help i greatly appreciated

Yes, they are TORX, There are 4 fairly long.
NO DO NOT use an impact, they will round off.
Use an impact rated torx, a 1/2" extension with a 1/2" breaker bar. They are tight.
When replacing use the bolt washer marks to realign the subframe, or your toe will be out of whack.
Its not hard at all.

Newtis has the wrong picture, sorry.
Ill upload the right pic soon

OK thank you very much. These straight forward jobs get me sometimes. I can only find one video of an f55/56 install and they completely skipped over that part of the video.

All rseries videos they were using impact guns. I'm pretty sure I have the correct ones in sight.
Just never thought I'd see so many torx bolts in my life. Ha ha.
Just been a rough one with this car for me.
Thank you for your help

I personally would not use an impact to break a torx that size free.

Heres a great DIY from NM engineering
They specify socket sizes, I dont recommend using the SAE (US) sizes, use the recommended TORX

I wouldn't have thought it would work out either. I can see it shearing off into another issue all together. I'm just not holding my mouth right I guess. Thank you for your help.

Im speaking from experience!!! The torx heads round off if the socket doesnt bite right and you impact.
Even if you get them out, you won't be able to retighten them the proper torque of 85 ft lbs
I had to buy a new set of bolts!!

Get a set of the non-chrome plated E-Torx

Amazon Amazon
The socket and extension must be straight on the bolt.

@ will be accessible from underneath, the 2 outer from outside when wheels are off
