Suspension Rear Upper Shock Mount Bushings
Rear Upper Shock Mount Bushings
2004 R53, 160K. I am rebuilding my suspension, front and rear. Powerflex makes a "rear upper shock mount bushing." It sells for $60.00+. Of what benefit is this? In the rear I have already installed new shocks, mounts, bump stops, pillow bushings, sway bar end links and sway bar bushings.
Bit stiffer mount above the damper and spring assembly, between the body and assembly. It'll help tighten things up, but the value is really going to be up to you. Is $60 worth chasing the best that your mini can be? If yes, buy it. If no, eh, it'll be fine. I have them, but eh, I'd spend the money elsewhere if you already have new ones in there currently.
Some have had problems with
strut shaft binding with poly
rear upper shock mounts.
Not sure if the Powerflex ones
are softer or better designed
than the Madness ones discussed
in the link below.
On the other hand, Powerflex
front control arm bushings are
a must, at least after the oem
ones die (which usually doesn’t
take very long).
