I am going to do this swap as soon as the weather gets warmer. The set I bought came complete with only 8 loose bolts. I'm assuming the 6 that match are where the bushing mount bolts to the car and the other 2 are the shock bolts. I was going to buy new bolts but it sounds like if I'm careful the stock bolts should work fine. Also is there any real need to change the bushing to a power flex or just stick with the stock ones that are in there. Thanks for any info.

The aluminum arms use different bolts as they are all longer, and/or have nuts depending on which one it is. So it's very important to get all the bolts as we have seen the arm really cheap, but no hardware. And if you ever price out all the hardware it's a few hundred dollars just for nuts and bolts. We always make sure to include it all with our kits.

We do recommend going ahead and upgrading to powerflex as it is much easier now than later. Plus the powerflex have a little more movement so it's easier to adjust. And you need the R56 ones now too. https://www.waymotorworks.com/powerf...7-r58-r59.html

So those dont replace the bushings they go on top of the oem bushings. Is there any special tool I need or do they just get sandwiched in there. Thanks

They sandwich the OEM bushing. No special tool needed. Take the bolt out and reassemble.
are just inserts that support the stock bushing. Very easy to install as you just have to remove the bolt and install them like a washer on each side of the bushing.
I've been told that the powerflex rear trailing arm bushes cause binding in the arm movement, and should be avoided because of that... any truth to that?
I trust what Way says. Hes been working on minis for years now. So I installed them yesterday. I've read the full bushing is to stiff but all these do is help support movement in the stock bushing. So we'll see.

The PF directions tell you to torque the bolt with the suspension loaded. There will be minimal movement from there and the provided lubricant should prevent any binding.
I put them in and am happy. Have not been to the track yet with this setup but don’t expect problems.
I am considering this upgrade and found a '08 parts car. The guy says the trailing arms are steel not aluminum and sent a picture that confirms it. Assuming he's looking at the right car which could this be? It's not a Clubman because it has a hatch. I just need to know what not to look for in a parts car if all are not aluminum. Thanks

Do you have the pictures of the trailing arms from that car? If its an R56, they should be aluminum.

This is an R56 so it has aluminum rear trailing arms, you also need the rear struts bushings to fit your rear struts into the new trailing arm.

Yes, I know it is just a picture of a back end of a messed up car. Unfortunately I deleted the image of the trailing arm (still on the car) after he insisted it was steel. I'm a ways away from the car so I needed to confirm everything is good before making the drive. He had 1st gen Mini that we was parting also so I was thinking maybe he took a picture of the wrong car. But he stopped responding to communication so I need to keep looking.
I just bought Megan Racing bushing, so can I put them in my '06 R53 brackets or should I use R56 brackets anyway?. Anybody knows if there is a real difference between both brackets besides the bushing?. In pictures they both looks very similar
