Suspension front arm bushings, from R56?
front arm bushings, from R56?
I cannot run poly bushings due to autocross rules, anyone swapped in R56 bushings? They look like they are quite a bit more solid, and rubber that's the key as I have to have same material as stock
I've not had any luck finding solid rubber bushings, only poly and I cannot use them it bumps me into a much faster class

A local shop, (edge motor works), recommended I change my bushings. I asked if they use poly. They said they use a BMW rubber compound that was better than MINI OEM. Not sure if it was true, but maybe something you could look into.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the r56 fluid filled? They may look solid but are not I believe.
Autocross really sticks it to you with rules sometimes when you are trying to fix a known common failure point lol.

How does your autocross people feel about window weld.........lol You can full the air pockets and cracks in with window weld. Technically you would still have the factory mounts and bushings still. But the window weld will make them "solid". And if you take your time and smooth it out nice it will look like something factory

I've installed hundreds of sets of control arm bushings and can say the R56 bushings do seem to be more durable.
If you are running nationally or a serious group beating on the rules then you need to stick with stock. And even switching to the R56 ones would be cheating as they aren't the originals for an R53. But if you are just doing it for fun go with the powerflex. We never install the stock ones in our shop as we don't want customers having to replace them again the powerflex becomes the best and only way to go.

If you want new rubber ones I've got a bunch of cheap ones that are brand new we pressed out of new brackets to make cores for our prepressed bushings
