Upgrade Path

'09 Clubman / non-s with 67,000 miles. Taking her to my indie mechanic this week for a minor repair / Vibra-technics [lower] engine mount.

At that time I'll request a quote on the following install: H-sport 19mm RSB, Fatcat bump stops, IE fixed camber plates, OEM [rear] shock mount bushings and OEM [front] spring pads.

I'm holding off on shocks / struts because I'm undecided if I want to go w/coil overs. I'm also curious what affect the new bump stops will have coupled with the Michelin Premier A/S 205 50 16. Given the vibrations issues some find with lowering I'm leaning toward Koni FSD.

I decided to replace the bushings and pads because of the minimal cost. Is there anything else I should consider purchasing before the bump stop install? Thanks in advance.

i would wait to do the bushings and spring pads till you get the new suspension. you will be doubling up on labor because you have to take apart the springs and shocks to do all that. also if you are going to go coilovers, the spring pads will not be used.

side note, you cannot put lowering springs on koni FSD's, they will leak. you would have to go to koni yellows if you want to get lowering springs.

Thanks, I'm aware the FSDs are designed for stock springs. I'm all but decided to axe the coil overs due to the potential vibration issues some experience.

Since I would be removing the stock struts / shocks to install the Fatcat bump stops I didn't think they'd be much in the way of additional labor to replace the OEM bushings and spring pads ATST. I'll bounce it off my mechanic on Friday.

i was referring to the replacement of the shocks, you said you were holding off on the shock replacement for a later time. if you do only the bump stops, bushings and pads, you should do the shocks at the same time, because if you do the shocks later then the rest of that stuff, you will be doing the labor twice over.

You could go with the Bilstein Touring Class replacement shocks/struts HERE as they're fairly inexpensive. They're also an upgrade from your stock set up. They give you a slightly stiffer ride and increased handling potential while retaining a smooth ride. Then, if/when you get coil overs you can sell them easily.
