Quote for suspension install

I was just given a quote of $1243 for installation of suspension components on my 2013 fCJW clubman. This would include shocks, springs, rear sway bar and rear control arms, plus alignment. This is a reputable shop with experience racing Minis, so I trust they will do good work. The price is just higher than what I anticipated. I'm interested to know what others have paid for similar work. Installing the suspension myself is not an option, I don't have the time or equipment to do it.

It took me the better part of a day to do:
Struts
Springs
Rear Sway bar

Adding in the other items may add an hour or two of labor.

Figure shop rates around $80/hr.

Also, an alignment to the new specs (I went to JCW Sport suspension) cost me just over $200 at the dealer.

Is this labor only? If it is parts and labor it's a good price otherwise is to much.

I've already done 3 times and I didn't know crap about it when I first did it, you can rent most of the tools for this job.

I get the no time no tools issue but like I said that's too much if it's all labor

I was thinking $800-$900 tops

I'm sorry that's just too much money. Helix in PA charges way less than that, I don't know where you are located but you can get a general idea from their website

Suspension work is around 300.00 for springs and shocks add some more for the other stuff

Detroit Tuned did my Koni's, H&R's, and lower control arms with alignment for $480ish in labor.

That's way too much.

When they installed my rear sway bar it was $200 for labor. I'd check elsewhere.

You should ask if the price includes a race alignment including corner balance?. Just asking because you said it was a race shop. Race alignment could cost $500.00 by itself. Sorry I'm thinking coilovers, I don't think your car could be corner balanced.

Oh boy does that sound high. Better include some adult candy in the glovebox for that price

Do you already have the parts that you want to install? If you really want to use this shop, maybe their price will come down if you buy the parts there as well.

What part of the country are you in? There are probably people who can recommend shops to you.

Have fun,
Mike

Almost identical parts installed 500ish. That included alignment. Live in Hawaii too, and things cost more here.

$750 for my Wilwood brake install. That caught me off guard.

Happy to have helped with supplying them. Glad things went well. Still does seem a bit costly, not a lot you can do about it tho. Motor on.
