I had a professional install mine but it is not the 6 piston one. My installer said the rear gave him problems but it was because they had to remove the exhaust or something to get to the parking brakes.

Looks like the mounting bracket is wrong. Can you not swap the mounting bracket over from the stock caliper to the wilwood? Might not be spaced properly though. Have you tried calling someone to resolve the issue?

The new rear Wilwoods require different E-brake lines. I removed the center console, to expose where the cable attaches. I can't figure out how to get the old ones out, there is a welded plate above where the cables lock into the car.

Does this help? I know it's for a R53.

If it makes you feel better, the place I took it to charged me $700 to install my BBK. So in the end you have save your self some $$ DIY. He said everything was straight forward, but they spent the most time on the parking brakes.

Thank you so much for your response. I will try this tomorrow, if the machine shop i know can't bore the new Wilwood ebrake slot in the a "rectangle" shape like the stock R56 caliper has. I'm bothered Wilwood just didn't change the slot for the R56 guys, I guess they don't sell enough to justify the expense Sent from my iPhone Office

Hmm is it possible you have the wrong Parking Brake Kit (part number 330-10916 is what's labeled on my cable)? or Maybe you have the cables backwards.

http://www.wilwood.com/PDF/DataSheets/ds679.pdf (<- My kit didn't come with these instructions. I wish I had them, maybe it would have save my installer time and my money :( )

I snapped some crappy picture of my rear Wilwood. (2013 R56)

When I first designed this kit (and yes that is where it began, not a Wilwood) we retained the factory cable. The only necessary change was to enlarge the hole in the black bracket and fit a thin ring/spacer over the jacket before you inserted it into the bracket.

The caliper is universal and has some shortcomings: enlarging the hole, changing the ratio, a funky lever end...all because it has to fit a very wide variety of applications. In the case of the spacer/ring it is fit to the jacket for example to shorten the throw in the car by altering the push-pull relationship between the lever and the stay bracket.

Here is THE very FIRST rear parking brake kit. It's still in service today on a 2003 car owned by the son of a close friend.

In this case and all the subsequent kits sold by TCE there were no parking brake cables included. All the R50/53 cars could use the stock cable with some futzing by pulling the anchor clips under the floor, re routing it and grinding some clearance where my finger is above. I'd say we shipped upwards of 75 of these rear kit.

Then Wilwood figured maybe they should sell it as other dealers couldn't figure out how TCE had an exclusive on it...well, it was ours! lol

The R56 came out and created a host of issues with the aluminum trailing arm. We modified our radial mount bracket and changed the hardware a bit and things fit. But...the cable became an issue. While one could make the original cable work it was far more involved than before. As time passed and Wilwood spec'd their own set of cables for "all" cars (bs, run the stock on an R53- you'll note they are NOT included on my 4X listings for the older car) we opted out of production on that kit for a variety of reasons. Mainly that it was available cheaper from Wilwood then to do it in house. It cost me as much to produce it as I can sell it to you almost.

The new cables are a headache I've been told from a number of people. I can't take fame or blame on that one. They are not mine. Personally if I installed a kit I'd probably do my best to again re use the others.

The instructions noted (PDF) are not included in the 'kit' but rather are inside the bag that the cables come with. I cannot say if they were or were not in there personally but I've not seen a bag without them. There is also reference to their requirement on page 5 of the kit install. Why the are not (often like ss hoses) not simply "included" with the kits I can't really say...

Once in place know that you will not have the same net 'feel' on the lever as you once had. I'd advise against e-brake turns. The stamped steel plates do not allow for the same toque pull on the cable as the heavier factory parts. Being over aggressive with it will bend the steel plates. Evaluate the clicks and you'll find that 5-7 clicks is normally enough to hold the car, resist the urge to tighten it up hard in the car; it won't work any better. We tested that by pushing against the car and simply evaluating the click effectiveness.

Hope some of that helps. I know it works and can be done, there are many of them in service today.

I confess I'm at a loss, totally. I've never seen this being done or required on any MINI rear kit.
I'd be concerned what you have would bend the brackets with some pulling against that part now.

*It looks to me that your goal was to use the stock cable on this rather than the cable kit.

You are correct, but that was a fail also. It really does suck. I got the stock cables out and installing the Willwoods today. :((
