H&R coil-overs broken rear strut.

Ok, I just snapped my second H&R rear coil overs on my r53. They have been on the car about one year. I would guess I put about 15,000 miles on them. I am 40 years old this is my 3rd r53. I had another one with cross coil overs and put about 40,000 miles on them with no problems. Has any one else had problems with these H&R coil overs? I just got the warranty back on the first one which broke on thanksgiving while I was 3 hours from my house. It took them about 3 months to warranty it. I spent $1000 plus on these I am alittle disappointed. Any thoughts or advice?

Now there's something unexpected! I ran my 1st set of H&R Coils 140k miles, and the 2nd set was fine at 192k when Gollum was sold.

I do very much hope that H&R will do the right thing. If I am not mistaken their supplier for shocks is Bilstein, and their reputation is very good indeed.

Extraordinary!

Cheers,

Charlie

Hey Charlie,

Seems like you had no problems with the H&Rs. You can see from my pictures that my car is lowered, but I don't think it is extremely low. Also I'am running factory size wheels and tires. I don't run spacers, my car does not bottom out. I have a about 30 different cars in my lifetime. Many with coil-overs or springs. I have never broken struts. I have no rear seats in the car no one sits in the back, and I don't carry heavy items in the car. I guess H&R got a bad batch of strut shafts. The Fronts seem fine.

Thanks for the info and input.
