Sport or standard shocks?

I am curious if anybody knows what the different labeling on the OEM shocks are. On the tube of my OEM shocks in the front they are labeled MR4 Sport and ML4 Sport.

I did not order the sport suspension and was wondering if the JCW comes with different shocks or if for some reason they label the OEM shocks all the same and the part number is the designation of the different shocks.

My car came with the sport suspension, and the labels said 'sport'. I replaced the shocks with 'standard' shocks and the labels said 'Cooper S'.

The same label that I showed in the picture? I did not order or pay for the sport suspension because I new I would be either swapping out for the JCW suspension or going an aftermarket route. I have ended up going aftermarket with a rear sway bar to start.

So it would seam I have the sport suspension? Are there any other confirming parts that I should look at? Can I measure the front and rear sway bars and if so what should their diameter be if they are the sport suspension.

If I do in need have the sport suspension I am really surprised because its softer than my 2003 MCS and I think its not stiff enough in the corners etc...

Is it possible that the JCW just comes standard with the sport suspension and its just undocumented. Everything I have read on the forums says that all the suspensions are standard on all cars unless ordered specifically, even the JCW.

The label is similar to mine, but mine is a 2008. My rsb measured at .722", or about 18mm. I believe that the factory standard rsb is 17mm.

I would assume that your dealer can print out the build sheet (or at least the options that were built on the car). Maybe the JCW is built now with the Cooper S Sport suspension as base?

My old rear sway bar measures at .68" (17mm). So my old rear sway bar is the 17mm standard but the FRONT shocks say sport.

My REAR shocks say "Cooper S" and does not have the word sport. The springs have colors on them. Anybody with a sport have pictures of the color markings on their springs.

Anyone with a Factory 2012 JCW built with what they think is the sport suspension want to take a picture of their shocks and springs?

I am wondering if the "Sport suspension" only really changes out the rear swaybar and rear shocks...

The photo with two orange markings and one white is the rear spring, the spring in the front is marked with two orange stripes.

JCW comes with the regular Cooper S suspension unless you order the sport suspension.

I have sport suspension and my front shocks match yours.

It seems like you have the sport suspension in the front, but not the rear...

Realoem.com is a great site for info on parts for different models and years and options once you get
used to navigating around on it.

My front swaybar is the 22.5mm one. So all the sway bars are not the sport but my front stocks are labeled sport. I would be surprised if they are actually sport, but who knows. I will be swapping the shocks for Koni sports soon.

Do the struts have the MINI part number on them somewhere (didn't see it in the pics provided)?
If so, can double check which ones they are that way.

31316782209, 31316782210 are left, right front non-sport
31316782211, 31315672212 are left, right front sport.
