We have a fully modded 2010 Subaru Sti for racing, this car is more for just grins so we don't need race suspension. I just ordered new tires to dump these terrible run flats as well. We would like to lower it a bit but know springs aren't really the way to go with 55k stock struts. So who makes the most economical coilovers with a stock like ride. Thanks in advance.

ST Suspension is probably your best bet for price and comfort. They are the same as KWv1's but with a limited warranty (rather than lifetime) and the shock bodies are a different material. Still steel, but a different finish.

I'll look into those. Is that really the only one?

ST's are galvanized steel, so if you're in an area where streets are treated with salt because of snow, they may not be for you because they will rust...

Megans are comfortable. With 32 way adjustable dampening, it's not hard to find the right comfort you're looking for.

Thanks, I wish the st or the kw said the spring rates so I could compare that to the megans.

I'm not sure how ride comfort is on the MINI side, but when I had my E92, the ST's really did feel like they were close to stock feel with the advantage of lowering.

That's good to know. I just wish they had some adjustment.

Looks like the spring rate on the st is 230 rear ( I think that's about 4.1 k) and the front is progressive. Slightly lower rates then Megan. Can anyone comment on the spring quality between the two?

I was set to buy the KW V1 coilovers. Looks like I will now be buying the ST coilovers. Especially since I live here in SoCal and don't need stainless steel shock bodies.

I'm still trying to choose between st and Megan. I like adjustability in case my wife decided to autocross occasionally.

I feel your pain. The Megans seem like a great value for what you get. I won't be doing any racing in my ride and the KW coilovers have great feedback for ride quality. Supposedly the ST are made by KW so we will see. I still might opt for the Megans

I'm with ra2fantatic when it comes to Megans, they are phenomenal, especially in terms of bang for your buck.

If you are looking to keep your OEM ride height (or near to it), I would recommend H&R Touring Suspension. These are H&R springs with what are basically re-valved Koni struts repainted in an H&R scheme. They lower about 1.4" all around, and when I had them I found them almost MORE comfortable than stock, with 10x more confidence in the corners. Just my .02!
