Inexpensive spacers?

Hey all,

When I was shopping around for suspension options, weighing coilovers vs. shocks/springs, many of you warned me about the additional cost of spacers and longer bolts. However, because I am foolish, I looked it up on Alta and assumed the 5MM priced at $42.99 was for a full set of everything I would need. However, it seems that's not the case, and the whole shebang will add $250 to my total cost, including shipping.

As much as I'd like to continue supporting Alta, as I've had very good service with them, I've got to try to stay on budget, and I'd like to hear any other suggestions, if it's possible to whittle this cost down a bit.

Thanks for any help!

Sorry there is no cheap way around it. And I wouldn't even go near any cheap chinese made spacers or bolts if I were you. This is one area you dont want junk. Stick with high quality H&R. I started out with 5mm spacers all around and recently moved up to 15mm and I'm very happy with the H&R spacers.

The worst part about the situation is the stupid 14mm bolts cost MUCH more than the 12mm. I wish Mini would have waited until the 2nd generation to make the switch.

My best advice is to either wait and save up, and/or watch the marketplace. They pop up everyone once in a while. (watch the 2nd gen marketplace also as they use the same 14mm bolts on theirs)

To add, I believe you only need spacers for the front wheels when making room for coilovers. So you can save some money by getting only one set. However, I'm sure it will look much better with the rears spaced out as well.

Yeah, I think you're right! I spoke with my mechanic today and the first thing he said was "You need to get H&R spacers, those are the best." before i even mentioned what I'd been looking at.

I was just a little traumatized by the sticker shock, but it is what it is. Quality is remembered long after cost is forgotten, and all that. I think I'll just bite the bullet and spend the dough, then put off the install a little until the weather clears up and I have more cash to spend.

Funny you bring this up cause we just got our new WMW spacers back from the shop on Thursday. We have special made them to be hub centric and work with both 12mm and 14mm. But we also have cut them to prevent them from getting stuck on the rotors. They will be up on the site in the next day or two, oh and they are more affordable than any others avail.

Interesting. They are 5mm spacers? And they would work with the existing bolts?

Cool. If you could PM me with pricing, that would be awesome. If not I'll have to check your page in a couple of days.

Way: I'm also interested! Please update me via PM, if you don't mind, or just post to this thread (or the vendor's section?) when they're available. Thanks!

Ok got the new WMW 5mm spacers added to the site tonight.

The 15mm and 20mm are designed the same. I'll get them up soon.
