Apex coil spring install

Installed a set of Apex coils this week. I chose them due to their linear rate design and the positive results found on this site: http://www.billswebspace.com/mcs.htm

They are also quite the bargain at $99.95 from Moss mini.
http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...eIndexID=88657

The only caveat is the rear sits a little low for my taste, but all in all quite happy with the ride and handling combined with my konis. I bought some 3/8" aluminum plate and will be machining spacers for the rear this weekend to see if i can get the rear up a little.

MEASUREMENTS (Centerline of hub to fender lip) :

Stock
F 14.00"
R 13.50"

APEX
F 13.25"
R 12.50"

Stock

Apex

Has it affected the ride at all?

How do you like the ride in comparison to OEM and TSW springs? I have always been interested in these springs, but since I have been happy with my current setup, never tried them out!

The oem was terrible due to 111k struts and runflats. The TSW/KONI was by far the best riding combo of the three. When I installed the Apex, i set the konis at 1/2 in the front and 3/4 in the rear which stiffened things up quite a bit. I'll dial the konis back to 0 tomorrow when I install the shims.

I would buy the apex over any progressive coil regardless of ride.

Machined up some 3/8" spacers out of leftover aluminum sheet today. They worked perfectly and gave the mini the stance i was looking for.

I also turned the konis down to 0 and the ride was firm but not harsh. Completely livable.

I don't mean to be a party pooper, but according to Apex, only the rear springs are linear.

Here is the info they sent me via email a while back:

Front: 25-20001/1VA = 28 N/mm -> Progressive spring type
Rear: 25-20002HA = 36 N/mm -> Linear spring type

Hmm, there seems to be some confusion on the front coils. I asked the same thing of apex and got a different answer. They also list several coils for the mini and wasn't able to tell me the difference in an e-mail.

If you look at the apex front coil, there is no way that is a progressive design.

I also asked Apex and they told me their springs are linear. No mention of progressive. Lookin' good ATXZJ.

Hmm. That's interesting. I guess they gave me wrong information. I do like the stance though, and its even better with that rear spacer in there.

Thanks to you as well. I made a few extra sets of spacers that I may end up posting in the for sale forum.
