The MCS aftermarket suspension geeks who're just itching to respond might need to know something about what your needs are. How much compromise in ride comfort are you willing to exchange for how much more handling prowess? Is the switch mainly for AX and track (a more aggressive compromise), or for just a noticeable improvement in road handling?
Someone might mention the Bilsteins that aren't in the list.

I'd encourage you to do a few searches as well and then refine your question based on what you know combined with what you plan to use the car for and how much you want to compromise with regard to comfort versus track capability.
No doubt you'll get good advice here on NAM, but that's an "opened a can of worms" kind of question. To be forewarned, you're going to get all kinds of different answers that might leave you more confused than before you asked.

2nd, if you're doing light track use and still a DD I vote KW V2's. Adjustable damping, with control over ride height so you don't need to slam. A decent ride quality, but know that anything outside of stock is going to be harsh (this is subjective), thumper and I both ride on Mach V springs, and those are harsh [though much better now with my bilstein struts].
H&R are more for the drop and you won't be seeing as much 'improved handling' as the KWs imo.
Look into a rear sway bar and camber plates too (even though I know thats not what your question basis is, but does play into better handling)
Good luck

TBH, I'd do springs, camber plates, and a sway bar. If its a daily you will sacrifice very little in ride quality and it will handle very well at the track. Coil overs on a MINI are over kill for most peoples driving skill.
ST Coilovers are the KW V1s with 5 year warranty and galvanized housing.
My suggestion would be any of the KWs or ST coilovers.
If you want a comfortable daily driver that can handle the track on the weeks then I would say ST. Not more kit than you need and won't bust the bank.

Some springs, yes you'll sacrifice less in ride quality, but I don't think having a set of coilovers with adjustable damping for the track and daily is overkill at all. Its not necessarily what spring and what shock you choose, but how well they go together. Springs and struts/shocks work as a pair, spring constant and damping, throw them off and they'll be like walking with two left feet (ok maybe not so extreme haha but a good set of coilovers have the R&D behind the spring rate paired with the shock damping. Which then points to adjusting a set of (for example) KW's, cant just throw a random ride height and damping, gotta get them matched for best performance.
Mike I agree with you on almost 99% of your engine/drivetrain points you've posted about, but this one i'll argue with you against =D (no offense)
lol i'm waiting on thumpers re-chiming about his springs with stock struts and shocks on his car, ride quality compared to stock made stock seem like a S600 Benz on a glass road.

The ride quality is insanely horrible...
That is the fault of the stock shocks though. For the price to upgrade to a set of Koni's or Bilstein's, you might as well just pay the couple hundred more for a set of coilovers.
I'll prob pick up a set of V2's here soon.
Guess it depends on what you use. I can't speak for any other brands really, but our springs were spec'd specifically for the stock shocks and were tested on all the MINI road tour cars as well as our street and enthusiast class cars. I didn't have a single shock blow on any of those cars. I've had several members in my personal car and most think it feels like a stock car.
Good and Bad news today.
Bad news: My turbo went out today, man I'm bone stock.....Well I just ordered the Alta Turbo and a few other goodies....
Good news: My V2 came in today, but no rims yet. They won't be here until next week. About the same time as the turbo....Can't wait (I feel like a little kid again hahahahaha)

I started the install of the coilovers today and now waiting on the turbo and etc tomorrow. My question is, what wheels are you guys running in the track (brand, size, tires)... Thanks again for you input.

Respectfully recommend that you corner weight the car.
My setup is in my sig, currently running 205/50-15 Dunlop Star Spec.
There's a bit of GTech data in my gallery if you're into numbers.
Harsh ride - great handling.
No free lunch.
Kind regards,
Charlie
