SuspensionSprings, struts, coilovers, sway-bars, camber plates, and all other modifications to suspension components for Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
I got home from my East coast road trip the other day Boston to WPB Florida and points between, and a day after I got home I heard a noise a suspected was comming from the USS! I checked today and one of the nutserts failed!!! I hate those MFin things!!!! Anyone out there replace them with something else!!!! Need some help from the mini masses The car ran like a champ the whole time all the way down and back, although the power steering cooling fan is making funny noises so I'm just going to replace it I think!
I had trouble with the inserts during the original installation. I ended up getting SS nut plates and JV welding them in. I had to enlarge the holes slightly to fit the nut plates in snuggly. You could probably tack weld the nut plates in also, but the JBweld has held up for 3 years so far just fine.
Well its not the USS, it's the nutsert. Are you sure you are installing them correctly?
isn't the nutsert part of the uss? or is that part of the subframe that is stressed by the uss? I've heard of no problems with the x brace (aside from hitting speed bumps), and have heard almost nothing but problems with the uss. this is why i am getting an x-brace.

Do you even know what a nutsert is? Obviously not. "nothing but problems with the uss.", really? Show me any information on this...any. They have sold thousands of these, the shop I help out at, hundreds alone...zero problems. "(aside from hitting speed bumps)", precisely, and just think if your lowered.

hey im not having any attitude with you, so don't have it with me. all I'm saying is that i've seen all over this forum, MA, and MU all sorts of problems associated with the uss from m7 and mini-madness. I've yet to see anything bad about the x-brace aside from the previously mentioned speed bump thing, which btw was only with people who were lowered, or had 15" rims. This is a documented problem by the manufacturer (TSW), and was said by them to not be a problem. I'm sorry if i hurt your feelings because i don't care for a particular product and would rather use a product with a different design that is also said to be more effective. And yes i do know what a nutsert is, but no i do not know if its a part of the car, or the product added. However i do know that these have been known to fail with this product being used. So chill out, i was simply stating my opinion. And if thats not your opinion, fine. don't bash me for mine, or for not knowing something in particular, because frankly i gave up on even considering the uss do to the amount of bad things ive heard. i do realize that my comment was not constructive or usefull to the original question, but neither was yours.

"all I'm saying is that i've seen all over this forum, MA, and MU all sorts of problems associated with the uss from m7". And I'm asking you to show me ANY info to back this up....you cant, because there isn't any problems with them. "And yes i do know what a nutsert is,". Well sorry but you dont know what they are otherwise you wouldnt be saying this, "but no i do not know if its a part of the car, or the product added." I'm sorry if you think I have an attitude, but it's post like yours with unsubstantiated evidence that causes all theses kind of arguments.

ok. yes i do know that the nutsert is part of the subframe, but what im confused on is if the broken one is on the subframe, or on the uss, i do not know if these use them or not. well this is pointless, and to be quite frank, i dont feel the need to look up evidence, but i have seen many complaints across the forums, and as i stated, i have chosen to steer clear of the uss. I understand if that hurts your feelings that i choose to stay away from a particular product, and im sure you'd steer clear from certain products that i may personally be very interested in putting on my car. we all have different opinions, and the purpose of forums is to post our opinions, am i wrong? anyways this is another one of those pointless internet strong guy arguments that are really quite stupid. believe me, i've seen quite a few of them, as being in highschool, most kids my age condone in these kind of arguments daily. Im sorry that you are offended by my choice of product uses, and im really sorry that i chose to put my decision on writing onto a forum specifically designed for this. But this is pointless, and im sorry to the op or anyone else who acctually has something important to say, (which does not include myself, as i stated). this has turned into a thread jack and i will shut up now. have a nice day, and good luck with your nutsert issue.
You too Just for your future info this is a nutsert, they are used in all areas of manufacturing and maintenance BTW I have an 17 year old son here at home
We use nutserts all the time here at my work. Usually the failure is the installer. Not trying to start any trouble here mind you. A nutsert only works as good as the location thickness of the material it is being used. So careful sizing of the nutsert and the proper installation is necessary. One size does not work for all applications. I would use A-T Series Inserts for this application area. This is just my opinion only not by any means a recommendation for anyone.
