OK, here's my last rear sway bar question, I promise:

I bought the H-Sport 19mm and will have it installed or install it myself in a few days when it gets here. A far as the different "settings", what would you recommend?

I don't race, but I drive pretty aggressively and sometimes take the car up to the twisties. I would prefer a good balance between the sway bar "performance" and overall ride quality, instead of full-blown street racing, since I use my car as an everyday driver and for long road trips (which do include hard driving when there's the opportunity). The hardest setting is obviously not at all for me, but between the medium and softest setting, which would you recommend for the type of driver that I am?

really, the hardest setting will be fine and makes absolutely no difference in ride quality. The car will rotate much better and will not oversteer.

I would start in the middle. That way if you need more you go up a notch. Need less go down a notch.

I have the 22mm version (I know its really a 25mm) and I have it on the softest setting and that works well for me so far. But when the weather gets warmer in the NYC area that may change .

Start in the middle. It's not too difficult at all to change it either way if you want to play around. It would be the safe way to go.

i was also wondering this. my car already oversteers when i lift off at real high speeds in a corner. will a sway bar just make this worse? in the past i had a FWD Mirage with a big rear sway bar and i lost it a few times with lift off and it was very scary. i dont want this in my r56 but it does understeer alot. would the 19mm on soft be worth while?

Yes the larger rear sway bar will induce more oversteer. Lifting to achieve oversteer is called trailing throttle oversteer or TTO. It is a very common method to rotate a car. All cars will rotate if you enable TTO near the car's limits.

For your case, if you just want better initial turn in, a better alternative may be to add negative Front camber with a camber plate. And stop lifting so quickly during a turn unless you know how to control it.

^ this. a better alignment is better than just adding a rear bar IMO. this may mean adding fixed camber plates, adjustable camber plates, free camber mod, and or adjustable rear control arms depending on your goals.

I set my Alta 19mm bar to medium, and it was a great difference over the stock non sport bar. Three days later I had it back in the shop to have them re-seal a tire and I asked them to set it to full stiff while it was on the lift. Feels better now. I feel like I'd have to be driving way beyond my limits to lose the back end.. I've never felt it come close to breaking loose while driving how I would call "spiritedly."
