M7 anti-mushrooming plates and the pillow ball type adjustable camber plates I used together completely eliminated mushrooming. I wrote pillow ball because there is no give, none, notta, niente! This was with 469lb/in springs too.

I sold these cuz my back side needs something soft in its old age...

Seems like the OP is all set with the comments from meb and onasled. I was going to suggest a problem with SAI or what some people refer to as "memory steer".

Here are a couple of threads from my RX7 buddies when this problem arose to one of our member's cars. Some are very technical with regards to SAI, scrub radius and other topics.

Something definitely seems wrong with those camber plates. Sh8t happens. Could have been a defect with them but they definitely do not look right. Or like others said, the alignment could be competely off. I've been to a few "quality" shops using Hunter equipment that was miscalibrated. Sometimes the people doing the calibration just don't care.

Not sure why anyone would look at those pictures and think that there was something wrong with the plates. Not saying that there absolutely is no issue with them, but as far as the pictures go, the plates look just fine to me. It's the alignment that looks off.

Another + for Ireland FIXED camber plates. These are very well made and very easy on the chassis. I don't understand the need for adjustable plates for road and NON competition track driving. If you are actually racing, that is another story.

I got adjustable plates so that the camber could be set the same on both sides.

As an engineer I understand that larger impact forces will be transmitted through the camber plate. However, I thought the surface area of the adjustable camber plate was larger than the stock fixed one, hence would spread the forces over a larger area of the strut tower? I realize it is not as large an area as that of the Mini-Madness reinforcing plate.

I also thought about the 'plate sandwich' solution that most say is the best, especially if it is in the form of a strut tower brace.
We need Onasled to tell us which Adjustable IE plates he is using. There are two.

The full race

and the Street set

The Race set are NOT for street use. Given that his MINI is a full racer I bet it's the top set. The Street set do have have spherical bearings encased in urethane to offer some cushioning. The bearings are replaceable unlike other similar brands. These are for dual purpose car that are street driven but are also used for track days and autocross.

Just an FYI.

I use the full race plates.
The green arrow is of course the spherical bearing where the strut bolts up through. But what these do have is a sweet top spring hat, RED arrow, that spins freely on needle bearings.

I used to use the Webb plates on the street and they were also non cushioned spherical bearings. Man, forget about potholes and highways under repair. I swore I'd be seeing my strut shooting through the hood of the car from the sound and the shock I'd get when hitting these things. In fact that's what I was using in that video I posted above.

I also notice that the OP'splates are not the same as the "street" ones that IE shows. Maybe that made a change?

^^^ Thanks for clearing up the plates you are running. Yes IE made a few small changes to the Street plate to give it more camber.

And FYI, IE non-adjustable plates use Z4 bearings, not stock mini fair.

Just a quick update. The IE plates have been sent back to IE and new H-Sport camber plates ordered from Way Motor Works (where I got the original IEs). A great big "thank you" goes out to Waylen at WMW for helping try and sort this thing out.

When they arrive and I get a chance to install them, I will post the results. I will take some picture along the entire process to share if required. It may be next week as I am having surgery on a torn meniscus in my right knee tomorrow .

You are correct. I should have prefaced my comment by saying - Assuming the alignment is correct, Something definitely seems wrong with those camber plates.
