JCW brakes

I'm debating on getting the jcw brake upgrade for my r56.... But I am also looking into stoptech... And ideas or anyone have pros and cons for both?? Or anyone familiar, how would they compare to say the brembos found on sti and evos?? All input is greatly appreciated

Does someone actually have a package put together and available of the JCW brakes? Who? How much?

well the JCW brakes are a dealer option... (kinda expensive), i'd do the install myself. around $2k... ergo my inquiring about JCW 4piston vs Stoptech. but from what i understand it's bigger caliper and rotors up front and larger rotors and better pads in the rear. i found pads and lines i like a lot available so i'd just go with those.

JCW's (Brembos) can be had for $1600 from Morristown, which is a really good deal for Brembo BBK. On the other hand you can go with the Wilwoods for <1K. Just make sure your wheels will fit if you get any BBK.

Willwod is better and they weight less, the replacement pads cost around 80, disc 175, the jcw brembo disc cost 205+ and the pads I dont know.

I have installed the wilwood dynapro 6 piston caliper with my stock disc an I am extremelly happy.

The package cost 1600 in morristown mini but you can get something as good for a lot less with wilwood.

The JCW brakes on my car are phenomenal - my only beef is that is that, as far as I know, I can only order front cross drilled and slotted rotors from the factory - the rears remain solid, so it looks a little unbalanced. If any one out there knows of where to get matching rear drilled/slotted rotors drop me a line!!

well i'm not sure if the rears are the same size as stock R56 MCS... but if they are Stoptech and TSW rotors would work!

Any pictures of the new JCW brakes/Brembo/Wilwood kits? I'd like new brakes, but I hate gigantic front brakes and slivers on the rears... that looks super unbalanced! I like my brakes to fill the wheels.

Fernflex, dynapro 6piston, does that use stock pads? Aka anything that would replace stock pads :p cuz if it does, the prospect of stoptech replacement stock rotors with carbotech pads and my current brake lines and fluid !!!! *giddy sounds*

They aren't the same. The JCW are 280X10 and the MCS are 259X10. StopTech nor Brembo currently offer rear rotors that will fit the JCW.

I put pads on my stock MCS brakes, really really happy with them! (thanks Dustin!) Carbotechs are really great.

How are you liking the alcantara wheel? I'm thinking of getting one, but hear the alcantara may not hold up to daily use??

Its holding up pretty well so far. I usually don't touch it if my hands aren't clean (not the alcantara parts anyway). I'm OCD about washing my hands before getting in the car if anything is on them. Otherwise I really like it. Great mod along with the camber plates.

Back onto brakes, I'm really impressed with my cabotechs that Dustin recommended. Pedal feel is absolutely awesome, they stop great, and theres really no dust to speak of. I couldn't be happier with them. I'd suggest trying the pads alone before upgrading the whole brake setup.

That was the deal on the Gen 1 JCWs. On the Gen 2 JCW brakes, it's larger brakes all around.

Thanks for the wheel info
I'm definitely going to replace the pads on my car. My wheels look like I dragged them through a coal mine and those JCW rims are a pain to clean.

hmmm.... so stock break full upgrade.... that could work extremely nicely. one of the "cons" i've heard about R56 JCW brakes are that they tend to have less modulation and feel in comparison to the stock R56 brakes

I would not go as far as to say Wilwoods are better than a Brembo or Stoptech setup. Even the 6-piston caliper is probably not as good as a brembo or stoptech 4 piston.

Thats like saying an EVO is a better car then a F430 because the EVO is so much cheaper and still has great performance.
