Just Installed 19mm Alta Swaybar

Earlier today, I installed the Alta 19mm swaybar, and I have to say that anyone who is even thinking about getting this mod get it. Its really amazing you just feel like you have so much more control in the corners. The install is also very simple it me and a friend of mine about two hours to do. There is nothing complicated that has to be done and the results are amazing. Highly recommend it.

I just got my 19mm rear sway yesterday; looking forward to the install later tonight!! One thing I noticed almost immidiatly is that if I really felt ambitious;

It also looks slightly possible to drill a 4th hole; Maybe we can bridge the gap between 19 and 22mm bars by doing this.

OK Just installed. Before: Cooper S with Sport suspension (I think 18mm bar). After: 19mm Alta on Middle hole and I'm kickin butt in the rain for today :(.

It sure does look like a 4th hole could be drilled for even more control...

Congrats, we always recommend a rear swaybar as your first suspension mod. Big bang for your buck.

I just installed the 20mm whiteline rear swaybar on my 09 JCW, and there is an incredible amount of clunking from the rear end.

I pulled almost everything apart, and checked all bolts for tightness, and they were all fine.

Two things that didn't go according to plan during the install:

1) one of the bolts on the rear left swaybar clamp, (the bolt toward the front of the car) is not coming out. It came out the first time, but now i can't get it out.

2) The type of grease i used was brake grease, not bushing grease....

Anyone have any thoughts?

In the thread where I pointed out that Whiteline now sells a bar for the R56 you said you had removed yours from your old R53. Maybe the Whiteline R53 bar wont work on an R56.

I used teflon tape without any grease.

I also used teflon tape, but still greased it up like crazy. As for the noise I haven't heard anything new in fact it may be less noise coming from the back now.

I asked a few people, and they said that the R53 bars fit on the R56s....maybe they were wrong?

update....turns out my friend didn't bolt down the bottom bolt of the left rear endlink...all fixed.

Such a great mod, but hey, i've run a rear bar for 3.5 years, so I know that it has to be done, hehe

As I have never driven a Mini with a 22mm sway bar I can't say for sure, but I will say that the 19mm has an amazing impact on handling and that I am completely happy with my choice.

Stick with 19mm if you're not tracking often.

I put the Tarett sway bar on mine it is almost 24mm but a tubular bar it has a great range of adjustability too. It is more expensive than the others but well worth it in my mind.

Way installed a 19mm bar on my MCS a couple weeks ago. Last Sunday was the first day Mother Nature allowed any sort of testing. Blizzaks and plenty of snow are the limiting factor at the moment but so far, so good.

Smoogy, which setting did you use for your Alta rear antisway bar?

I went all the way to the stiffest setting, and I am very happy with my choice.
