m7 STB

Question on installing the m7 STB. I know , I know there are a thousand entries on these but I have yet to find what I want to know and I'm tired of reading. Just want to put this on the Mini. Should the tower plates, in a perfect world, sit absolutely flat? Is it OK if they have a slight wobble to them? I assume this would mean some mushrooming already? Is it OK to go ahead and torque them down?
Thanks

You would better served by fixing the mushrooming first. The torque setting for the nuts is not that high, 22 fl/lbs IIRC, and using them to try and pull the metal back into shape might lead to other issues, like snapping a stud.

Thanks. Got a quick and easy fix for this? I assume by your answer that they should sit perfectly flat?

They should not wobble at all. Just takes a hammer and some semi soft blows to get it back to shape.
Lay your plates on and find the hight spots, take it off and tap them down, and repeat untill there is no more wiggle.
