Just a quick question to all you M7 strut bar owners..... I had one on my R53 MCS and am contemplating in getting this for my R56 MCSa. Does it bulge the bonnet like it did with the R53 version? Do you guys think it will clear the DDMworks intake? thanks.

Won't bulge the hood for sure! But need to check on the intake clearance. Clears the latest ALTA versions, and earlier ALTA can be modded slightly to make it all work together.

Let me know if I can help!

Tell you whats funny...the ALTA intake, JCW, and stock airbox clear it and fit it better than m7's intakes...go figure.

With the AGS-R, the slight, minimal clearance when your not driving is fine, until you torque the engine and get the rattles.

CF Strut Brace

Mini Mania's carbon fiber strut brace was first mod I did to my R56 S. Don't know who makes it, but it is very high quality. Steering wriggle on rough surfaces is gone, tracking virtually gone as well as torque steer. Barely clears OEM air box, but install is a zip. CF tube is oval x-section and is a straight line between shock towers, not arched. Works for me. - Dwight

You might look at this NM Eng strut bar at the following link:

I've put one on my '07 MCS and it clears the Stage JCW air cleaner and is a very clean install/design.

Hey I am thinking about either the M7 brace or the JCW, does anyone know if it would clear a standard CAI filter? Just to release the turbo & BOV sounds I bought a $25 filter at Autozone, but im not sure if either one would clear it.
I just stuck the filter on the end of the inlet hose, exactly below where either brace sits. Thanks!

Is there a particular reason for choosing the M7 brace over the JCW one?

Hey guys - I'm about to purchase a strut bar - Should I go with M7 or JCW? I can get a deal on the JCW which will make both strut bars around the same price. Thanks!

Get the M7 just for the fact that it has the tower defender plates. I know the r56's dont have that problem like the r53's did but it is peace of mind for me. I do my best to avoid potholes and things like that but it happens at time. That is pretty much the reason why i just ordered the M7 stb abd rch. Both bars with do the same in the end.

I went ahead and got the JCW strut bar as I was able to get it for free. Was a little surprised to find out that it was chrome...

Since my car only has 70 miles on it, I am unable to comment on any sort of change.

Which ones fit the Alta intake? (pre strut brace cutout version) (not interested in JCW version*)

Just an update. Both are installed and the ride is so much better. I did the STB last ngiht and took my car in for service this morning. I didn't get to drive it much but i was very inpressed with it. Yes there is 20% increase in the butt dyno. Going over rough roads on the high way is definatly a bit smoother. Other than that i have not been able to really see what it can do. Next is the ALTA CAI that is on backorder. UGH

I did the strut brace and the under strut system now looking at the rear seat brace has anyone put quick release pins on the top to allow for the brace to be swung down when loading the back seat?

I think this would be kinda hard since when I installed my RCB it was a pain because the vertical bars take some skill you could say to get it place. The RCB is well worth every penny. I had it installed first before I put the STB on. I needed to pick up a torque rench and was to excited to wait and installed the RCB. Having both on my car makes it handle a lot better and more stable on the road with bumps.

I did not think it was possible but was wondering anyway it would sure make it easier to load anything in the back if you had the ability to lower the RCB down and then pin it back in place once ready.
