SuspensionSprings, struts, coilovers, sway-bars, camber plates, and all other modifications to suspension components for Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
I haven't talked to any physicists this month, but I've read both of Hawking's latest books, cover to cover: "A Brief History of Time", and "A Briefer History of Time".
Have you?
And Oh, BTW, why are you wasting MINI people's time on this silly discussion? Is this in any way relevant to discussion of the CG of a MINI?
You're the one that told me to take a physics class...
Anyway, I'm glad you can read. Try to comprehend it next time.
...try centroid mass axis or center of mass...I too get confused when I read about the center of gravity, but it typically refers to, thru analogy, a spinning body whos mass is at the center. The centers of gravity in a car are conveniently located above each axle as a way of showing how this mass center is involved in roll...though the center of mass actualy rotates around roll centers...which move around a bit - complicated. The mass centriod axis defines a point by which if a string were attached and the car spun in a plane equal to a level road, it would in theory spin horizontally about a vertical axis without tipping/listing in any direction.
Roll centers determine the geometric path of roll since these are determined by suspension geometry and the center of mass determines how much weight is transfered thru these paths based upon weight distribution, bushing deflection and resistance from springs, dampers, and swaybars...oh and TSW X braces - just keeping on track...hey, a punn!!!
at the risk of being on topic, how much understeer do people notice? i know i noticed a bunch after i put on the omp (of course, long since corrected). anyone gone from omp to tsw?
OK, this has to be one of the best O.T. drifts in quite a while
OTOH - the X-brace is on my X-Mas wish list even if it puts me in a different AX class for next year. The TSW guys are (local) friends and I've been very happy with everything I've purchased from them; and other items I soon will, including a BBK. And they stand behind what they sell!
