Suspension H&R Lowering Springs and Craven Strut Tower Defenders Installed by Minicorsa
H&R Lowering Springs and Craven Strut Tower Defenders Installed by Minicorsa
The forum has been great getting feedback from other Mini owners on products and services for the Mini. I finally decided to get lowering springs for the Mini and after pacing thru the various suspension threads I deceided to get H&R lowering springs for my 07' MCS. I made an appointment to have Danny D at Minicorsa do the install based on recommendations from local SoCal Mini owners from this forum. I'm glad I did, thank you NAM members. Danny D at Minicorsa knows his stuff. Matter of fact when I drove up to his shop today he was preping his own Mini for track and as he stated "to kick some Porsche ***" . NICE
(I also own an 03" arctic silver metropol blue interior sunroof deleted Porsche Turbo with upgraded ECU and turbos dumping +600hp to the wheel). I perfer the MINI as my daily driver.
I had lowering springs and craven strut tower defenders installed aligned and out the door in 1 hour and it was a clean install (stood there the whole time) and I'm picky
who touches my cars.
Danny D at Minicorsa is first class..........don't let the look of his shop fool you, this guy knows Mini's.

ThumperMCS,
It was your post about Danny D at Minicorsa that convinced me to make the trip. Thanks, absolutely worth it. "15 mins.......I believe you, with me he took a little extra time knowing I was picky. Thanks again.

Ok, google maps says it's 66 minutes (no traffic through the heart of darkness, I mean LA). Yeah, you guys are right. I think it would be worth it. I have friends up there, too, so I can find stuff to do. Thanks again for the recommendation.
Did you guys get alignments included in the install price? That's what the website says... curious if that's possible with a 15 minute install.

Scruffylooking,
I was going back and forth between cross coilovers and simple lowering springs. The fact that my Mini is for daily driving and not for the track I decided to just go with the H&R lowering springs. After the install the overall look was improved 100% and the ride is little more noticeable (bumpy) but that is what I expected running on 18x7.5 on 215 35 18's on a 1.4 inch drop. I truly like the one finger gap visually over the 3.5 finger gap. The $400 install included the alignment. Pricing is absolutely fair. Springs, Install and alignment for $400 can't be beat from a Mini specialist.
Forgot to mention Danny D dialed the suspension during the spring install to get better camber.

JnC,
After reading thru the various threads on this forum, I thought that getting the strut tower defenders was a small investment for the "what-if's". The roads here in SoCal are getting worse everyday.
Potholes the size of paint can lids and railroad tracks that sit .5" to 1.0" higher than the concrete/asphalt round them.
Just last week a collegue of mine destoyed both his front rims(bent), alignment, lower radiator mounts and bunch of other suspension items going a little too fast over some railroad tracks on his fixed up BMW M Coupe. His repair and replacement cost 6k. OUCH !
"an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure" or somehting like that....
