Suspension Lowering setup...again
Lowering setup...again
Sorry to beat this into the ground, but I wanted to get input on the two lowering choices I have been considering. My goal is a lowered R56 (about an inch) with a decent enough ride for everyday city driving.
1) Non sport suspension with a 19MM rear sway bar and Eibach Springs (mainly because from what I have seen they have the least amount of drop from a company with a good reputation).
2) H&R "Street" coilovers and a 19mm rear sway bar (lowered about an inch)
It would be great to save some money and go with option #1 but I guess if I have to add better shocks to properly dampen the 1.2 drop from the Eibach's I should probably just go with option #2?
Again...I know there are a lot of threads on lowering options but I have yet to hear any non vendor input for the H&R "Street" coilovers.
Oh...and I am going to swap out the runflats too.
Thanks...

i recently installed the Mach V springs and the H&R 19mm rsb. I also have the non sport suspension and at first it worried me but after driving around for about a week, i really enjoy the ride.
It doesnt bottom out as much as i would have anticipated and the car handles/looks as it should have from the factory. I understand what you mean by springs from a company with a reputation but Mach V is a vendor here which posts quite often. I find this very comforting because i know that if i am having problems, all i have to do is make a thread on nam or PM him but i dont think that will be necessary.
Plus! the Mach V springs are red, and everyone knows red is the fastest color.

We have had great feedback about our Mach V Technic Springs. We've also been in business for ten years, so we're not going away any time soon. Feel free to give a call if you have specific questions about any of our products.

really though, these springs are awesome. i think the eibachs are OOS everywhere and wont be available till april... at least thats what i last heard.
Thanks for the responses so far...I really appreciate it.
- First I have not ordered my R56 yet...and I just want to try to get the lowering equation correct for a reasonable amount of money.
I guess my big question/concern is why not go with H&R "Street" coil overs? They have progressive springs and a dampening system built to adjust from 0.75 to 1.50 inches lower. I'm thinking of dropping just 1 inch. My hope is that if I do this and add a 19mm RSB I will have a good set up for the street for about $1,100.
If I go with springs I then have to consider adding the sport suspension which seems to be recommended and then buy a beefier RSB which most seem to recommend as well...all of this will cost $900 (SS+Springs+RSB) then have to worry that the shocks may have a shorter life or not mate properly with the springs. Again I would prefer to only drop an inch as well...which is not as low as Mach V or Eibachs.
Any thoughts...

You don't want to order the SS if you're going to mess with the suspension after you buy it. The SS mainly increases the asb thickness by 1mm front and rear (I think). They say the springs/dampers have different part numbers but nobody thinks they're nearly as good as aftermarket and the car still needs lowering. You sure can put lowering springs on the car without dampers and add a 19mm bar, plenty have done it without any problems. That's about $400 for parts. Cheap.
