Thanks.

I'm lovin these springs. they ride so much nicer then stock for the every-day travels. I can't wait till they settle, so far I've got about 1", looking for that .2" to follow soon!

the combo with the rear sway is just incredible, I love the reduced understeer, I don't feel like I'm pulling around a trailer anymore.

+2 to nm eng.

^subie owner wanna be, lol...

the mini just serves more of what i need at this point in my life. A wrx wagon/sportback is probably in my future once it's time for kids.

I think i'm going to need some rear control arms soon though, after looking at the rear camber again this morning, I think it might be too much for a daily driver.

If it came off wrong it wasn't intended that way. I LOVE the color combo (and even more so on the MINI!)

If you need the arms let me know! Happy to help. But regardless the car looks great!

Hahah, thanks... I didn't have any problems until recently... I think my struts are blown... It's scraping now on stuff I normally didn't...

Only thing I really needed to look out for was parking bump stops... Always was mindful to not park to close... Was just low enough to hit the front lip....

no worries, it wasn't taken the wrong way.

Glad to hear you like the combo... It definitely requires a certain taste in cars, although seeing the other group of cars you've got hanging around down there from Perrin, it's hard not to like the subie look.

I get all kinds of looks from other subie drivers... I can't tell if they're looking because they like it, or looking because they don't think it belongs on a mini...

We'll see how the springs settle out, I'll make a final verdict on the arms in a few weeks.

how long have you been dropped? could it just be that the springs have finally settled?

btw, cutting the bump stops kinda scared me at first.

I'd say about 8 months... My previous cars settled within a month... So I wouldn't imagine it's that...

Might as well through mine in the mix. Lowered about an 1 inch using H&R springs.

Me with my old wheels at a dealer next to stock height.....and I have the Coilovers quite high there so i wouldn't rub on the tires.

I recently replaced my KW V3s and with some BC Coilovers instead and have NO regrets! You guys may think I'm crazy, but I love the overall design of these BCs vs. the KWs I had. I bought these from Brian from WyvernMotorsports and he hooked me up with (7K) in the fronts and (6K) in the rear in regards to my personal driving style which means little to no track or auto-x. This "was" my wife's car before she got pregnant, but even she thinks the ride is much better! Since we're not track junkies, maybe it's just in our heads, but the satisfaction is bliss...

I wish I could be more technically poetic, but if your looking to lower your daily driver, then this has to be a freakin' steal for under $1K! It rides great.. feels sporty... not too stiff... and Brian was awesome person to work with.

Couldn't wait to post these up. The car actually sits 3/4" lower in the rear now but didn't have a chance to take more pics yet. Also, only running the 5mm spacers on the rear and front, but after measuring I am going to go 15mm in the back to fill it even more.

Enjoy! Comments always welcome!

BTW: I had to actually trim off the front underlip on the bumper with a utility knife as it was dragging on the ground! Even just parked in the garage.

Closer to the Ground

Finally installed my set of Mach V springs. Thanks to Dan at Fastmini for providing the springs at the right price, and to Adam at Alta for providing install instructions. And of course to NAM for having a site to find these people and info.

A couple of tips and addition to the instructions.

Almost a necessity is an impact wrench with 18mm socket. Those bottom bolts are on tight.

A good allen wrench. The hardest part for me was trying to get the sway bar struts loose with a crappy allen key. Am offset 5/8" box wrench was a help to the procedure.

A digital camera. Take pictures during the process so you know how the parts are supposed to look.

You also really gotta have a set of jack stands. Unless you unbolt the rear sway bar, you can't get the bottom bolt on the rear if only one wheel is off the ground.

A hydraulic jack. Two jacks would be better.

Spring compressors. Don't go out and buy a set just to do this job. Call your local Autozone. They will lend them to you at no charge. Really! You just leave a deposit and they return it when you return the tools.

A second pair of hands. Both to help, and to make sure you didn't skip anything in reassembly.

The rear instructions were dead on. The front instructions were a little sketchy. One thing I took awhile to figure out: you have to remove the bottom bolt completely. It doesn't just clamp the strut. it goes through the strut.

And the cap at the top of the strut doesn't unscrew, it pries off.

The first strut took about an hour at each end to figure out. The other side took about ten minutes at each end since I knew what I was doing.

And here's the result:

Doesn't it look just right with those 15" wheels and 195/65/15 tires? I am really pleased.
