Suspension Source for sway bar teflon bushings?
Source for sway bar teflon bushings?
Ok, sway bars squeek and you have to lube them. I think I've read every post in this forum and the R53 forum pertaining to sway bars. I appears that the even the ones with grease fittings can't be greased without taking them off - at least not all the time. That was also my experience on front Mustang bars. I also tried the spray-in silicone lube, but it would only work for about a week at a time.
This leaves two possible options. Plumbers tape - I have a hard time believing this is very durable, but I'm open to being convinced.
It appears that everyone is happy with the teflon bushings in H&R bars, but unfortunately they don't make an adjustable 22 mm only 19 and it has two holes rather than three. I have an 07 MCS with sport suspension. It already has a 18mm rear bar so I don't think 19 mm will make enough difference for autocrossing.
Does anyone know where to source these teflon bushings or the material to line another bushing? I also supose that delrin bushings would work. Does anyone know where to source them?

Thanks! Now I have to order a sway bar.
OK, I'll get some brand new plumber's tape. It will go on a brand new sway bar so I won't have to worry about cleaning off the grease. Now I just have to pick a sway bar. I'd go with Ireland Engineering one if not for some of the noise complaints I see due to their links. If the tape proves itself in the rear bar I'm going to get some urethane bushings for the stock front bar and use it there too. Thanks so much for the real world experience that's what I needed to hear. The tape just seemed too fragile to me.
Teflon Bushings
Just out of curiosity, how many aftermarket sway bar users have squeak issues? And why don't manufacturers use teflon? Too soft? $$? Sorry to have hi-jacked your thread, just something I have been pondering.

Answered in the gen 1 area. bottom line is cost.
Do It Right!!!!
Go to E-Bay and get some thin teflon sheeting. Roll a strip around the bar extending it slightly outside both sides of the bushing.
No offense, but I would never consider using soft plumbers tape.

Never done the sheet of it. Tape seems to be working fine so far, but I'm always up for something new. How thin are you getting to put on there?
