Suspension How low can you go?
How low can you go?
Ok, we all know the R56 sits up a little higher than the R53. I'm enjoying the ride height of my R53 with H-sports, though a little lower would be ok by me too. My question for you guys is, who is the lowest in the R56 world so far, and how did you get there? Which coilovers are you guys using to get rid of all of your wheel well gap and how do you think they perform?
I'm considering an R56 in the future (probably less than a year) and at this point I'm leaning toward M7 coilovers, but I want to see what all of the options are.
Don't forget to post pics!!!!

I currently do not have my R56 lowered. I have been giving it some thought and watching all the threads here on NAM which apply to the question.
I'm looking for a stable and modest reduction, I have been giving some thought to the JCW options because of my desire for full driveability. I don't intend to track/race my MINI, perhaps an AutoX twice a year, maybe a TT.
Ohterwise it's the H&R or MACH V. springs from which I have seen in photos do a decent job. I have not seen pictures of the new Texas Speed Works spings in a photo, yet. I guess I should go look around some more.
I'm thinkg the 1/2 inch drop with the JCW and the badging on the MCSa would be a conservative appoach for an old guy like myself, others might like a more extreme lowering or something more tuneable.
Should be an interesting thread.

Actually I don't live there anymore.
From what I have seen of Springs on the market they do offer a decent size drop, but not as low as I would want. Somewhere I saw an all PW MCS that was slammed, maybe even tucking tire on 18's, it was similar to the look I would want. I know there are side effects to going that low, but it's never stopped me before, so why start now?!
Now that the site is back up hopefully more and more people will start showing how low their R56 is. Thanks!

I went with MINI's Sport Suspension and H&R's, too.
It's not as low as some of the adjustable coilovers (Alta had a Loooooowwww MINI on some coilovers... but I don't remember the brand).

Sounds like you're looking for somthing even lower HPUdrew... but I think this is a good balance of price (springs vs. coilovers), performance (it RAILS!), and compliance (stiff, but I can still drive into urban Seattle without bruising my kidneys).

Yeah don't get me wrong, there is nothing bad about your setup. I think for MOST cars the way you have set yours up would be a great compromise of performance and ride. I'd like to see some that have a much more agressive drop though to get a feel for how they look when slammed. Thanks!

We've been playing with heights using the AST coilovers we picked up for the TiC R56. Taking handling out of the equation, and going purely for looks we have found that there's going to be some limits for a daily driven car. The biggest limit is the CVs on the axles. I really really don't like the angles that dropping it that far puts on the stock ones. In order to slam it we're going to have to figure out a solution for axles with higher angle CVs.
...And yet nobody has posted pics of an R56 on coilovers in here yet... lol, what's the deal guys? I don't even care if it's not yours, I just want a compilation of slammed R56's!
