The TSW arms are hot looking, too....

Though TSW needs to make more stuff in RED.

Not sure what version Alta arm I run, but they were making a horrendous sqeaking noise. Talked to my mechanic and called Alta. They are swapping out the heim joints for a revised one. They have been squeak free for months now The old joints were chrome colored, the new are black, might want to see what you have. Hope this helps .

Thanks, I've got the grey arms with chrome joints, I've seen that they now have a v2 that is red, these ones:

Honestly, I love Alta and I'd buy everything from them, lol, but with these arms I am a bit cautious, I've been living with this squeak for more than a year out of laziness, both mine and my mechanic's as I mentioned this to him asking him to grease my sway bar bushings (I thought the noise came from there) but he must have forgotten. Then I took the car to another mechanic to fit my custom header on July and he said it's probably coming from the control arms. Now I've to find a way to confirm this for sure and then the heim joint arms are going to be substituted with something that won't squeak for sure.

Ok, mine must be the version 2s, because they look just like these If you grab them and twist they should twist very smoothly, if they grab at all they are bad. Call Alta and get the new heim joints

That is the info for which I am looking. Could you elaborate? In each case, what were the brand of control arms that failed?

By "that type" do you mean TSW only?

Thank you meb, this is hard-won information, and I appreciate your sharing it. It's good to know which joint is most-stressed.

142K miles so far...anything that I installed went thru hell for sure; the roads here or horrid, a few have been under construction for three years??? and the combination of 100 miles of highway and 100-150 miles of back road and I don't know how many track miles early on, placed a bunch of these components in particular light. Everything was left on for salt duty as well...

Thanks for the info.

I figured that if any would break, they would be the Bavarian Autosport arms, which look most like the Megans but come four to a pack for $299.00. However, I am getting the impression that all of these aftermarket arms are much stronger than the stock arms.

I've had the Megan arms (both upper and lower) on my '05 MCS for two years, ~24k miles, two seasons of AX and 8 DEs and never had a problem with them. Had the TSW control arms been available when I purchased them I would have gone that route instead. Everything I've purchased from TSW has been a solid and reliable product.

BTW - having the upper arms allowed me to decrease the rear track width just a smidge so that my 225-45-16 AX tires, and 215-45-17 street tires no longer rubbed without needing to dremel the inside lip of the rear fender flares.
