Suspension A study in rear adjustable control arms, with pics
I have the Alta V1 arms, and I think many of the squeaks I hear from the back come from them, at least one of them. I was thinking about changing them, but I want something that will grant me zero noise so maybe rubber will be better of heim joints, what do you think? Also, I've seen Alta has a v2 of their arms, has anyone tried them out and can tell me if they are noisy or not?
.
Thanks, I've got the grey arms with chrome joints, I've seen that they now have a v2 that is red, these ones:

Honestly, I love Alta and I'd buy everything from them, lol, but with these arms I am a bit cautious, I've been living with this squeak for more than a year out of laziness, both mine and my mechanic's as I mentioned this to him asking him to grease my sway bar bushings (I thought the noise came from there) but he must have forgotten. Then I took the car to another mechanic to fit my custom header on July and he said it's probably coming from the control arms. Now I've to find a way to confirm this for sure and then the heim joint arms are going to be substituted with something that won't squeak for sure.

I had two rear lower control arm failures and one was at about 90mph at Lime Rock and it wasn't fun. The rod end failure was accelerated by driving too many miles on bad public roads...and I didn't inspect them often enough at 250 miles a day of driving. The other was a a bushing designed in two halves as above...
Thank you meb, this is hard-won information, and I appreciate your sharing it. It's good to know which joint is most-stressed.

my bad, the type would be "center turnbuckle designs like Megan or H-sport" I have edited the other post too. Thanks for asking.
I figured that if any would break, they would be the Bavarian Autosport arms, which look most like the Megans but come four to a pack for $299.00. However, I am getting the impression that all of these aftermarket arms are much stronger than the stock arms.

I've had the Megan arms (both upper and lower) on my '05 MCS for two years, ~24k miles, two seasons of AX and 8 DEs and never had a problem with them. Had the TSW control arms been available when I purchased them I would have gone that route instead. Everything I've purchased from TSW has been a solid and reliable product.
BTW - having the upper arms allowed me to decrease the rear track width just a smidge so that my 225-45-16 AX tires, and 215-45-17 street tires no longer rubbed without needing to dremel the inside lip of the rear fender flares.
