How is the ground clearance for those who have 16's? Do u need to go over speed bumps at an angle?

Ground clearance is the same with 16's as with any other wheel diameter, since the outer diameter of the TIRE won't (shouldn't) change no matter what. That is, if you go with a larger wheel, your tire will be thinner, so you keep the same rolling diameter.

But anyway, the main part of the car doesn't scrape, but that hangy-down air dam flap is only a couple of inches from the ground, so that rubs frequently.

I dunno if this question has been asked and answered already, but can you get to the stock alignment after lowering? I want to minimize the butterfly-ing for more even tire wear. thx! The drop looks perfect.

I saw scott48's car last night, lowered on the Mach V springs. VERY NICE!!! Awesome stance, pretty similar to my R53 on TSW springs.

So is the only reason you need an alignment check after adding lowering springs, to adjust the camber back into spec?

Lowering will also affect your toe in/out a little, so get that adjusted too.

There may not be enough adjustment to bring the rear camber into spec with the stock adjuster nut. That's why you might need adjustable rear arms.

For performance driving (track) you want more negative camber in the front then the rear to help removed understeer. Then you would need front camber plates.

Roadracer and Scott48, your cars look great!

You guys are really motivating me to do something with mine. I didn't get the Sport Suspension with mine because I already had aftermarket wheels and tires. So now I'm torn between aftermarket coilovers with a rear swaybar or a JCW suspension.

At least with our springs, we haven't seen the need for any aftermarket hardware to get the alignment back into spec.

6cm from lowest point of air dam to ground.

Giving it a week, then the alignment. Technician does not expect camber to be an issue.

Dan
Thanks. Tools of the trade actually. Unedited images with identical exposure; kind of interesting how sparkling silver colour "changes" with angle of shot. But that's another topic!
Anyway, good price on the springs; they look and work great.

Haven't had the chance to do anything decent with the car lowered. But will shoot some images next week after exhaust and intake additions.

I do keep some images here:
http://www.johncameron.ca/mini

The last one (#38) shows the car lowered, but not really the "full-car".

#34 and #35
I was shooting a pre-dawn scenic one morning and turned around and saw what the early morning light was doing with the MINI. I hope to repeat the shots now that the car is lowered, but that is weather and work schedule dependent...

Well, the professional images posted by John (ACooperS) sold me. I ordered my set this morning. Besides those two images offering the perfect perspective, it convinced me that the resulting drop is perfect.

The only question is when does Dan hire John on contract to do his image work? Hmmm?

Nice work on both of your specialized feilds.

Hah! Good one Paul, and I needed a smile this morning!

You know how you look back at your MINI after parking it. With the drop, you're going to keep doing it. Just looks right. That Chili Red is going to look and ride great. Cheers,

Even with the 1.25" drop, the view is not too great from the rear.. Why couldn't they paint the control arms? They left them silver and they just stand out too much. I mean this car looks better than mine but still not quite low enough. Maybe JCW aero kit sells better because of this.

Nice pix, very nice. What's the pullring cable going to the passenger side with the seats removed do?
Have you considered removing the front hangdown lip piece that's so close to the ground? I started a thread some time ago about removing it after lowering the car. Nobody had done it but nobody could verify that it does any good that close to the ground now. Maybe it removes itself in time!
