Suspension Should I apply Loctite
Should I apply Loctite
I made my final settings for the coilovers and wonder if I should apply loctite over the threads on the strut. I`m worried about the nuts getting loose and the ride height and the stiffness would change.
What do you think?

Isn't the point of coilovers to be able to make changes?
I think it's a good question
, loctite shouldn't prevent future changes just prevent inadvertent movement. It will be interesting to hear an experienced opinion.

If you are talking about the hight adjustment on the threaded body, then NO, absolutly do not loctite them. Your coilovers should have a jam nut system, or some type of locking device on them.
I don`t worry about the rear coilovers but the ones at front worries me. Yes coilovers have a jam nut system but the front springs can turn downwards because the plates over the struts turns freely in effect the springs may turn both jammed nuts loose at the same time.

If you tighten them up correctly, then you won't have a problem.
Most threads on coilovers are pretty sensitive. You'll really mess them up if you start dripping loctite on them.
You want the top plate to turn freely, even on the rears, as the springs twist when compressing and rebounding. Not to mention the fronts rotating while steering.

Greg,
I'm responding to your photo...when I increased my front rates, my front wheels left the ground too. Having the ability to adjust bound and rebound would have helped a lot. nothing worse than flying up that hill, losing tire contact with terra firma, and, having the traction control dump forward momentum. The guys following really like that
I had the H&Rs...slightly snug and they'll never move. Part of the reason those plastic isolator/washers are there; these help the springs to revolve without applying undo stress the the hieght adjusment lock rings.
