putting in seafoam

I would like to put the seafoam treatment into the car to clean the valves that are currently making loud tapping sounds. The threads covering this subject suggests putting into the intake or vacuum lines. I am not sure the location of these. Can someone explain this to me like I am a four year old. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't expect seafoam to clear up a valve tap. If you've got valve tap, you're either low on oil, or you need a valve adjustment. . .

How many miles?

What year?

What is the history of your maintenance?

When does it make the tapping noise?

Seafoam won't help cure a tapping noise. That's going to require some kind of mechanical repair or adjustment.

Seafoam is great for the fuel system, and can help rid your engine of deposits.

some suggested here, similar to the seafoam website, indicate that it can possibly reduce valve carbon deposits, which can also create the tapping noise that I hear. I did also realize that I was low on oil and added oil accordingly this weekend. Still would like to use the seafoam product as many people have had good experience with it. Any advise to my initial questions? Thanks.

I used a funnel with a tube attached and fed it into the vacuum intake (after the PVC valve connection to the engine side...on the MCS...connection to the grey 1/4 in tube)) slowly. Had a friend keep it running so it would not stall out. Then had to drive 5-10 miles to rid the engine of the stalling it experienced at idle....All is now fine after it is worked out of the system and taken for a good run (do change the oil after you use it)

OR you can simply put it into your gas tank...depends on how bad you think the carbon buildup is. I will say it smoothed out my idle and the stutter start is gone...never had a valve tap though...suggest you seek other opinions!

You should not need Seafoam in a 2007 MCS if you have been running a quality premium fuel. Years ago I met a gent who works for Seimens in Newport News VA. That particular location rebuilds fuel injectors and fuel systems parts. He told me that Chevron's "Techron" additive is the best fuel system cleaner on the market and that they routinely use it to clean gunked up injectors. Get a tank or two of Chevron Premium if you think your fuel system has deposits.

pour 1/3 in the tank. 1/3 in the oil ( 500 miles before an oil change, MAKE SURE YOU DO AN OIL CHANGE WITHIN 500 MILES ) 1/3 in a vacuum line. Pull the line off of the pcv valve and suck it from the bottle slowly. the car will want to start to stall out so slow down if that happen. once you put atleast 1/3 the bottle into the engine shut it off and let it sit for 10-15 mins. start the car up and let the smoking begin. after most of the dark clouds of smoke have gone, take it for a decent ride to get anything else.

+1 for chevron w/techron fuel injection cleaner. I use it every 3k miles. its the same stuff bmw/mini sells under thier name.
