HID problem

Occasionally my passenger side bulb will not come on. I've read here it could be the control unit, somebody else told me the ballast. Either way, only does it sometimes. Cold out? Maybe. Raining? Sometimes. Hot, not really. Humid, seems good. Am I looking at a control unit problem, the ballast, or are they the same? Also, what am i looking at as far as cost goes? I know i should bite the bullet and buy it from the dealer but I want to make sure before i spend the $$$.

I had the same thing going on for awhile. I swapped the bulbs side-to-side trying to see if it was a bulb or something else, and it hasn't occured again. These are the original bulbs. Maybe unconnecting them and reconnecting them fixed something, or maybe it's just a fluke.

FYI, when you turn that '03 BRG into a mild autocross machine you should skip on the front and rear strut bars and buy a set of camber plates instead. It will make a far greater difference in performance than strut braces on our cars. Unless you like the look of the braces, in which case it is your money so just go for it.

i have been working on two cars here in Detroit that have the same problem. both on the driver side and both over 50K. replaced bulbs, replaced the ballast. still no luck. it would work some time, and not work others. and just like you, in any conditions. we ended up buying some newish lights off e-bay and replacing the whole thing. so far they are still working with out a problem.

Thanks for the heads up on the plates. The holiday is near are money will be coming in soon, as a present and a paycheck. And, the other day it did it, so I figured I'd take a look. I jiggled some wires and yelled at them a little bit and ever since, no problems. And, we've had a wide range of temperatures here in SE PA recently. Warm and breezy one day, cool the next. Even had some frost this morning.
