Popping sound after shutting off engine?

I noticed that there is a popping sound coming from the bottom of the car when the has been parked after I have driven it for awhile. This sound was not there until I installed the M7 16% pully and 2% crank pully. Could this be the heat shield?

Thanks for the help.

I don't think any of your heatsheilds should of been affected during the install of those pullies. You might be hearing what was explained here.

Thanks for the reply. Actually that sound is nothing like that everyone is talking about. I mean this is coming from underneat the engine that just keeps poping. It pops like if someone is hitting a hammer against a metal pipe. I will do a run and lift it to track it down over the weekend.

Thanks for your help

I've heard a similar noise like this on other brands of cars. I've been told in the past this is just the oil returning to the pan. But I find this partly hard to believe and I have never heard it on my MINI.

with the pulley additions i'd suspect more heat at the header;cat. as mentioned above could be the cat cooling down. you may (as has been sugested here by others) try running colder plugs to help with the heat.
