Squaky Clutch?

Hey everybody,

I have a little(i hope) problem. I just brought in my car for a problem with my clutch pedal. My dealer determined that i had bad clutch bearings, so they replaced the bearings and the shaft. 2 days after i got the car back, i started to hear a squaking coming from the engine bay. I figured out that every time i release the clutch, i hear the squeak. It seems to be getting worse. is this problem serious? am i to be worried?

How do you mean everytime you release the clutch? If you just pump the clutch in neutral while idling, does this squeaking you speak of occur then? If so, I'd imagine you want to get that checked as I've never had that happen to me. If it occurs as you are driving, is it only from initial take-off or as you are shifting gears? I know there have been many posts, myself included, that have complained about a squeaking that can be heard when initially trying to get the car rolling. Search for "clutch squeal" if you want to find any further info about that. I would say your best bet is just to have the dealership or qualified mechanic take a look at your car. Since it seems that you still have a warranty due to the recent work you had done, I would just bring it back to them and have them take a look. Whatever you are hearing isn't normal and you shouldn't have to deal with it, whether it's a serious problem or not.

Get someone to press the clutch pedal for you and stand outside to try to determine where the noise is coming from . I just had the same thing with what sounded like a squeeky spring sound (from the drivers seat ) at first it was a suspect slave cylinder . The tech at the dealership jumped in and pressed the pedal whilst I was outside the car and goodness what a nasty sound it made .He determined right then bad pressure plate "new clutch needed".

i did that, its definitely coming from the clutch mechanish. It happens every time i shift, and even if i go over bumps. Something is definitely loose in there. The techs at the dealer must have done somthing weird when they put it back together while replacing the bushings.

Bugger, I'm getting this problem too... the mechs reckon it was a bad harmoniser (whatever that is) and replaced the flywheel... but the sound is still there... it's got them stumped. taking it in tomorrow to another dealer. See if they can sort it out.

i just got the car back from my dealer...turns out i had a bad flex pipe...something sounds a little fishy to me, but it doesnt squak anymore, so whatever. Now i have to focus on fixing my little exterior damage that i keep getting (i.e. scratches, raccoon damage)...
