Had mine done today at Mt. View Mini and it took a bit longer than I expected. They did a thorough check on all systems though, so I can't complain too much...AND it didn't cost anything. Took about 2 and a half hours. I wonder how much it will cost OUT of warranty????

If it is something that keeps happening, how can they NOT recall it and redesign?!?! Something chronic like this could definitely turn me away from my Mini and looking at other autos...as much as I LOVE my S.

motormount problems

I too have had no fewer than two of the three motormounts replaced on a 05 MC. As a matter of fact at the time of this posting I just returned from the dealership and what a nightmare. Without going into too much detail this has been an ongoing problem with these mounts. I posted a thread asking if anybody had any success with IE's motormount bushings and have still gotten no response. Long story short check you mounts often and look for any fluid around those areas.

1 year and 18,000 miles, just had my motor mount replaced. Kind of sad that they go out so quickly.

Warranty replacement with engine damper installed?

I have an 01/2005 MCS with 24,000 miles and (as of today) a bad motor mount.

Tonight I was showing off my TSW engine damper at the local club meeting and someone said "You broke your motor mount", and I'm all like "No man, I put on this extra part to keep the engine from rocking, it should make life easier for the motor mount" and he says "No, see all the oil leaking out?"

So the metal parts of my motor mount are well covered in black oily residue emanating from the little hole on the front.

My question is, what is the typical dealership stance on this problem and engine dampers? Did my damper make the problem worse? Or was my shot motor mount the reason the engine rocked so much that I wanted a damper in the first place?

Does anyone know if the dealership will give me a hassle because the damper is installed? I.E. do I need to remove the damper before I take it in for a warranty replacement?

thanks,
-charlie

PWRS, did the VIP stabilizer add any noise or vibration? I have the issue with one of the other engine dampers.

so I just popped my hood, and I too have a bunch of black goop all over my motor mount. Its coming from a little tiny hole, like someone said before me. Looks like I need to make a trip to the dealer before my warranty runs out. I really hope they don't give me any drama over fixing this under warranty. In my experience, MINI does everything they can to not honor their warranty. I don't have any mods or anything, and never been in an accident, so hopefully it won't be a problem.

Had mine replaced under warranty last week. MINI is 22 months old, no hassles at all.

I am actually having my motor mounts checked tommorow. Given the fact that even touching the throttle results in the engine thrashing about 1 or more of my mounts are probably shot.

i recently checked my tsw damper and p/s engine mount and found nothing wrong but yet if i get on and off the gas you can feel my motor rocking big time. i had a friend watch my motor with the hood opened and with the e-brake on i gave it some clutch in first gear and in reverse and he said nothing is moving so im now lost as to why im feeling the motor move so much when im on and off the gas

I also had mine replaced recently. (spotted fluid on floor, it was due for service so they towed it in and back) Early 06 build; Cooper.

I'm creeping up on 36K and concerned that the Motor mount may (will) need replacing again (and again).

My question: Will this be covered through the 4 yrs/50K?
ps, my dealership is only 175 miles away.

What kind of problems did this cause? I noticed the other day that I have the tell tale stains on my frame around the mount, but I haven't noticed any change in the car. No rattles, or vibration, or clunking noises. Should I be concerned? I'm out of warranty.
