Super-fast blinker mode!

This morning I was driving to work and had to make right hand turn. So I put my blinkers on and the arrows on the tach were blinking (and clicking sound) super-fast! I then turned it to the left blinkers and it was regular motion. So I knew one of the three bulbs was out on the right side: the rear blinker, the side marker blinker, or the front-bumper blinker. Dang! My 2006 MCSa is only 2 months young....a burned out bulb so soon????

When I got to work, I turned the right blinker on in the parking lot and walked behind the car--nope, rear blinker is fine (although blinking super-fast)...side marker blinker is fine.... walk to the front...found it! Front bumper blinker is not lighting up.

What the heck, I give it the Fonz...a sharp smack on the front of the lens. Sure enough, the blinker starts working! So the bulb is NOT burned out, but it could be one of two things: either the bulb is LOOSE or some wiring is loose.

I don't have time to tinker with my blinker at work...but are the blinker bulbs easy to access on the 2006 MCS??? Do I have to take the whole bumper off just to get to it? Hope not...if it's just a mere tightening job, or checking the wires connections, I can do that IF it is easily accessible/viewable.

Just in case I need a new amber front blinker bulb...anyone know what Part # that is? There's a Pep Boys down the road.

Thank you so much for your advice and expertise!

rock on,

Blinker bulbs are super easy to replace and the assemble just twists out. Also the bulb should be replaced under warranty unless you just want to handle it yourself.

I just had a bulb burn out as well on my 05 MCSa.

Check out MINI2 DIY for some info on how to change the bulb

I don't think you have to remove the bumper you can actually just reach down into under the bonnet just behind the bumper. I think the manual has all the info.

Thanks, mdsbrain!

I haven't lifted the bonnet to check, but I assume I just open it up and there is easy access to the blinker assembly there? My dealer is 60 miles away...I do have an appointment to have my driver's side door handle/tweeter surround replaced (it is loose/does not fit properly...pops out all the time) in two weeks when the part arrives, so I'll have them take a look at the bulb then.

If I didn't have that appointment, I'd do it myself right away, just for safety reasons it's better to have all 3 blinkers operational...the bulb shouldn't cost more than a couple bucks...I hope.

thanks golden child!

I went to that Sylvania link and found they have a silver blinker for the MCS, too:

Front turn signal
7507A
7507AST Silverstar Signal Lighting: Complete the Look: Crisp, Clean, Style

I may just pick up two now...

Very easy to change the blinkers, open up the bonnet, look for the opening behind the bumper, twist and it pulls out, change the bulb, place back in and twist to tighten, close the bonnet and you're on your way. 5 minutes tops....

Yes change out to silverbulbs if you can, it's a very clean look as shown below.

Easy to replace, although I found out the hard way and took the bumper off first! Then I realized it was one of those "twist the socket exactly 90 degrees counterclockwise or you'll end up taking the bumper off sockets".

Still, it WAS pretty easy to replace once the bumper was off!
