Engine details

I have looked and can not find any articles, links, or anything with a good technical description of the s engine. I already knew the answer, but I tried to find it written somewhere if the cam was belt of chaiin driven... couldn't find a thing.

Can anyone point me toward some good technical reading for a 'geek-nerd' like me?

Read the article...it's good. Thankfully, the MINI uses a timing CHAIN...I hate cars that use a rubber band to turn the camshaft(s)

Miniac,

thanks, that was a very nice read. I printed it off, read it and put it in my 'mini' file. If you think of anything else (technical, not just a list of specs) I'd really appreciate it.

The Bentley Mini Cooper/Cooper S manual has a great intro section as well. (I learned about all-in-one forged and then fractured connecting rods! Very cool!) The manual only covers up to 2004 and mine is a 2005, but I figured it was better than nothing. I also have a Haynes on order, but I'm pretty familiar with Haynes manuals (I think I have 15-16 downstairs, one for every type car I've ever owned) and they don't generally have tech talks.
