Another Warranty Question
Another Warranty Question
Hello,
My MCS is a 2004 model (which I bought used with 18K miles). I've heard some people talk about 36K waranty, and others speak of a 50K waranty.... how do I know which waranty I've got?
Thanks
Donald

if your car is meant for the US, it should have come with a 3 yr/36,000 mile free maintenance warranty covering scheduled maintenance like oil changes and 'inspections' and also brakes and wiper blades...the car also of course has a bumper to bumper warranty for defects which is 4 yr/5,000 miles
my '04 currently has 35,800 miles so my free manitenance is just about used up

WARRENTY QUESTION:
If I put an exhaust one my mini; and I do the work. What all will be voided? just the exhaust, the entire motor, or will they just claim whatever broke had to do with the exhaust.

It depends on the dealer & MINI
If they are going to void the warranty, they should void only the exhaust system warranty. But, it would really be best to check with your dealer. And get the answer in writing. If the exhaust that you are considering is a cat-back system, then there shouldn't be any issues with the rest of the exhaust system. But to avoid future issues, you should get an answer in writing from the dealer.

I've gotten reamed for saying this before here, but this is true; I and many other MINI owners have experienced this at multiple dealerships:
If you go face to face with the service advisors at your local dealerships, the ways they impliment your warranty policy may be different.
The dealers are where the ultimate decisions about your warranty coverage and mods are made and communicated. The dealers need and have some freedoms to interpret and implement policy, and they exercise those freedoms regularly, in both conservative and liberal directions, based on the needs of their ongoing business.
Look at your MINI warranty statements in your owners' manual, that is company policy. Then, before you mod if possible, talk to your service advisors at your local dealerships. That is where the rubber meets the road.
