Ses/eml

Driving to work yesterday my SES/EML lights came on w/3K on the car, so I shut the car off turned back on lights went off. Few seconds later they came back on. Got to work turned car off back on SES stayed lit but the EML turned off.

Since I work for the dealership I don't have priority and get bumped if they are too busy (so much for working for the dealer ). I've been told it could take a week just to look at the car??? The car drives fine and didn't notice any loss of power but then again I was in traffic so I really couldn't tell.

Issue I don't know when the cars going to be done......and I was scheduled to get the pulley installed by Randy this Sunday. Should I scrap the pulley if the car is not fixed? I really don't want to deal with getting the pulley installed and then getting the runaround even though I do work for the dealer........any thoughts?

Fairly cetain the pulley is unrelated so it shouldn't be an issue, can you get a code? You could even go to autozone in the mean time and pull the code. Also under what conditions did this happen? Any changes in how the engine is driving (limp mode, stumble on acceleration, rough idle that kind of thing? Also if you get a chance maybe try and talk to one of the techs, see if the could give some advice on having a diagnosis before getting into the service bay.

Go by a Kragen or Pep Boys..

and borrow a code scanner. Read the codes and clear the faults...

at least if you know the codes, you'll have a better idea about what's up with the car....

Also, see if the 6-pack bribe will entice one of the SAs to scan your car with the factory tools after work is shut down... Usually works wonders!

Maybe you can get your car in at another dealer sooner... Seriously, then at least it will be on the record prior to the pulley install.

(Talk to your Service Manager though, getting your car in to be scanned/evaluated shouldn't be a big deal since it would only take 15 minutes; would they really put you off for that?)

yeh, you work at the dealer.... borrow the scanner. :impatient
EML will go off after 5 starts. the SES will not until the DTC is
either cleared or the problem is no longer eminent.

I wish I can just go in and hook up the car but thats not going to happen. I got the car in late afternoon........I'll find out tomorrow what the situation is. I tried to get the keys to the M5.......but ended up with a 2006 MC PW/PW to drive.......no harm in trying

Got the car in today and it was throwing the P1498 code. They performed a smoke test and found out that the bottom of the Supercharger inlet pipe had a hole in it like someone hit it with a screwdriver. It looked like a defect during manufacturing. It was replaced and all is good!

Matt,

It says P1498 -Unmetered air after compressor. I asked the tech if he's seen many pipes with holes and he said only a few. Hope this helps.
