Mods and Inspection
Mods and Inspection
First off, I should preface by saying that I did search as much as I could about the schuduled inspection and a modded engine.
Couldn't find a thing.
At the Dragon I had a Helix pully and a Helix CAI put on. I'm now at 550 miles before Inspection 1. Now I've read a lot of threads about dealers and warranties over parts that have gone bad or broken and the battles people have gone through.
But what about inspection service? Will I still have troubles with getting the dealer to honor the regular service under warranty?
What experiences have you had?

1. Unless something has changed recently, the free service for the first 36,000 miles is not part of the 48 month/50,000 mile factory warranty. Therefore, any problems you might encounter with regard to your mods and denial of warranty coverage should not impact the free service. However, that doesn't mean that a dealer knows the difference and will not attempt to play games with you.
2. To avoid any mix-up/mis-understanding, I would enquire how mod-friendly the dealer is. Some are very mod-friendly; others are mod-hostile. The mod-friendly dealers generally know the difference between free service and the factory warranty.

I think I'll give the service department a call and find out. I did talk to my MA about the mods and he seemed almost stoked about the idea of a more fun MINI, but he said I should check out the service department's views on it.
