I emailed customer service at Bentley Publishers, and they said they don't
yet have any plans to put out a manual for the Mini, but I was told the
suggestion would be passed along to the publishers.

Maybe if enough people request one, they'll decide to do it quickly...
Bentley manuals are the best, IMHO. Go to http://www.bentleypublishers.com
and email customer service, if you're interested.

I spoke to a friend who has a BMW M Roadster about service manuals and apparently BMW only delivers them electronically and there is no paper version that can be purchased by individuals. I certainly hope this is not the case for the MINI since a lot of its appeal is that it can be tinkered with, improved, etc. If you have to experiment without the benefit of a manual it could get expensive. If you have the opportunity lobby your neighborhood dealer to ask for the ability to get service manual information at a reasonable price point.

Unfortunately my understanding is that access to the electronic versions of the service manuals is very expensive...as in $500 or more dollars and may be a yearly subscription rate. I'll contact my local dealer and see what the true scoop is.

On a related note I received the following message from Bentley regarding possible manuals for the MINI. I encourage everyone one to email Jennifer to request that they offer a manual.

Dear Mr. Ferguson,
Thank you for your interest in Bentley Publishers. Unfortunately we do not
at this time have plans to produce a manual for the Mini Cooper. However, I
will keep your name on file to inform you of when it will be available.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Schneider

mferguson,

It's been a year since you contacted Bentley Publishers about a service manual for the MINI Cooper. Have you heard anything else since then?

Juan

i bought the Tis Manual from Schiff automotive literature (I think that is what it is called). I am very happy with it and it was around 225 bucks. I have also seen Manuals on Ebay but I am not sure of there quality and what they cover (They say they cover MINI).

The TIS manual is the manual that BMW/MINI use. It is all computer based and comes on a cd. The ETK is the other cd you can get but that is just the parts catalogue.

On the Service manual issue. I do not really need the service manual in its completeness but the Electrical wiring diagram, I consider is a must have. Anyone know where that is available or want to send me a pdf version.

From what i've seen of the TIS and ETK, there is no wiring diagram - i know ... i want it too! but after talking to a service tech, i'm not sure they have 'em either!
