Limp Home Mode NOT SAFE!

Two months after having my power steering pump "go", my '05 MCS lit up like a Christmas tree and went into limp home mode while I was driving on the Merritt Parkway in CT.

Ever drive on the Merritt? Ever drive on the Autobahn? Same thing, except the Merritt has a 50mph speed limit. What a joke.

Anyway, you do not want to be driving 10mph on that road, nor do you want to be pulled over on the barely-there shoulder while cars rocket past you in the right lane.

I have had the car for a year. I love it, but I no longer feel safe driving it. What if I had been passing a truck on a two-lane road? I'd be dead, and my 10 year old son would be an orphan.

Anyway... I am going to attempt to get out of my lease, as much as it breaks my heart. This MINI is not safe to drive. This time they are telling me it's a throttle pump? (I think...haven't seen the paperwork yet).

Wow. Whatever came of this issue? I wouldn't keep the car either.

I will say that this might have happened to you in more than a few other cars as well. However, I do understand and sympathize with your desire to get out of the car.

Mine did that twice, but she's all better now. It was poor software and Texas heat and humidity that caused the limp mode problems here.

Looked who revived the thread after it being dormant for 2 weeks, MINIMAM, she has some ax to grind against MINI. After allegedly dumping hers for a Honda, she had her first post ever begin with 2 threads about buying or NOT buying a MINI ever again, reciting her 6-month woes with her alleged 2005 MINI, what's up with that?

By the way her woes were she couldn't drive a stick on an uphill grade, a coolant tank leaked, her throttle bogged once because she couldn't feather the "throttle by wire" system correctly and there were some rattles?!?!:
Just a HUNCH, another TROLL...?

I have to say that I also find it odd that the same person went looking for this kind of thread and restarted it after going to the trouble to begin a new thread with a negative post she already posted to a live/active thread. It would have been one thing to post the one post to the 'Would you do it again' thread and then leave as indicated, but to then start a new thread with the identical post then find this older negative one to reanimate is strange and does make the motivation questionable. Add the fact that the person never posted before for good, bad, or neutral reasons and it really is very strange....
