Boost Gauge Install Q

ok, i have yet to get my gauge, but i have installed them before.

i cant seem to find a palce to tee off of. all the pictures ive found using search dont have a clear shot of anything, and it just seems to make it more confusing.

where doe they tee off for the factory gauge? Where have you tee-d off of for a guage?

:impatient

here is a pic from another thread. In this pic the intercooler and horn is removed making the job easy. You can do the install by simply removing the intercooler however IT IS REALLY REALLY TIGHT to work. The skin has finally grown back on my knuckles .

Once I disconnected the line from the engine, I cut it about an inch back from the factory nipple, added a RUBBER T (instead of hard plastic) which makes the job much easier.

Things that helped me A LOT

long needle nose like surgical clamp helped alot for it helped me reach the tubing once cut. AND I can stress enought the RUBBER T. I started with the hard plastic T like everyone else but then you need additional tubing to connect the lines to the T - either tubing or some type of connector. The rubber T was simple - slide in all three tubes (little soap/water). And beacuse its rubber it permits a lttle flex. My first attempt with a plastic T, once everything was back in place the connection point between the line and the T pinched a bit. THATS when I headed back to the car parts store and found the rubber T.

HOPE THIS HELPS

I could kick myself because I can find the bag with the part number. I even went back to the store to buy another one for a freind but they had only one. It was made by accu-tite (sp?) and its black. I have never seen another. And yes in the asile/rack along side all of the other T connectors.

ITS worth hunting for ! Really made things easier.

ok, i'll take a look.

i have to see under the hood of my friends GTI and see how we did it on that one.

i think we used a brass junction black with the crush fitting for the nylon on one of the trr's and 2 of the rubber tubing connectors with the ribs on either end.

all in all, i got a very nice autometer gauge and pod today and i hope to have it all runing asap!

mount..

the mount you used for your gauge on the pillar, did that come with the autometer gauge or was that purchased seperately? Which style Autometer gauge did you end up choosing?
