xenon problems

My xenons turned off and then came back on three times today. But after the last time it was fine. Anyone ever had that problem?

Problably it's the light bulb, they don't work well when the gas is low. Have you seen them on? do they look yellowish?

They look normal when they are lit, they just both turned off without warning.

didn't notice you said they turned off, my bad . You better check the balasts (?). The xenons lit's when the gas is hot enough.

I better check something that's for sure! I'll see if the problem continues. I don't drive it at night all that often though.

I drove it this morning with the lights on and whenever I was behind someone I looked for the headlights. They seemed to be on...

I don't know about the headlight version, but the Xenons I work with, when they get up in hours it may take several strikes before staying on, as a result they need to be changed or the amperage needs to be bumped up.

When they went on/off those three times, how far apart were the......contractions? i.e. several seconds or several minutes? If they're like the ones I work with and it was seconds, it's just trying to strike, several minutes, there's a problem.

Hope it helps, but regardless I would take it in and let 'em know what's going on.

It started about five minutes after I started driving it. The contraction happened all with two minutes and then ceased. The headlights operated normally after that. I drove for another 1/2 hour without incident.

Oh, and it flicked off and on. And the last two times it did it I manually turned them off and then turned them back on. The car has 13k on it and majority of it during the daytime.

Does this happen with just one bulb, or both? Mine does with one, but are the bulbs (they are old). It's time to get a good Hella kit

Both sides...they just shut off and then my daylight running lights came on.
Really weird.

If it continues to happen then I will. I have no service/repair issues, except for rattles at this moment.

edit: drove around tonight for an hour and no issues

I have you a bad new. I recently talk with a friend of mine an told me could be a shortcircuit, or (hope so) the battery. Another thing he told me is that the philips bulb is one of the worst. I'm going to change them next week, but not for hella.

Maybe, it's just a bad bulb. I think mine is different then yours in a sense that both go out and the driving lights go on. It's like the switch or something is acting up.
