While there have been many posts on this subject - has anyone been able to tap the vaccum line without removing the intercooler, ect...... ??????

IF YES - special tools?
If NO - How much did you have to remove?

PS - this has been the most fustrating mod, returned two guages (order, receive, return, receive, return & receive = 2 months). Fabricated my own bracket from stock autometer parts. Actually ended up be easy compared to mounting it so that it looked clean and pulling the wires. ALL I HAVE LEFT IS to tap the vaccum line! Could really use the FANTASIC 4 (strech guy) right about now.

I couldnt imagine doing it w/o the intercooler off. I did this 2 days ago. It was a VERY tight fit toget the new hose ON the nipple of the manifold.

Taking off the intercooler is pretty easy. Just be careful to not lose or drop the screws. You might as well check how much oil has coated the IC. You might as well clean the IC with break cleaner, let dry and reinstall.

It can be done without removing the IC, but it's not easy. You can't see what your doing and have to do it kind of upside down by feel.

Much easier to take off the IC so you can see what you're doing. I found that it's easier to put the IC back on if you loosen up the bolts holding the front IC mounting brackets (the black steel ones). You don't need to do this to remove the IC, but loosening them up a bit so you can move the brackets out of the way makes reinstalling the IC much, much easier.

1) Ended up taking off the IC - no big deal.

2) Even w/ the IC off what a pain in the @$#%&** to get it all hooked up. Ended up buying a semi hard rubber Tee and was able to slide all the hard tubes 1/2 inch in .

When I begin to accelerate shouldn't the guage continually build boost until I shift?

This is what is happening - as I accelerate in first boost builds, then drops to zero and as I approach readline boost re-appears. Whenever I am on the throttle (pegged) the guage seems to work properly. At full throttle it goes just over 14lbs which should be right because I have the 15% pulley = 14.5lbs boost max.

I have leak ?

PS since the guage is scaled 0-15lbs, you should see the needle spin on the dial - entertainment value A++.

At partial throttle, my boost will go to about 5 psi then go back to zero and then into vaccum. Im amazed at how much im in vaccum.

Yeah I agree my operates in a similar fashion except I am hitting 18 to 20

Okaty thats what happening to me - As I start out I go to about 5lbs of boost then zero (no vaccum side to the guage) and only if I nail it do I get then a full read.

I thought superchargers continually built boost so I expected a constant climb to max boost. A direct relationship between RPM and Boost. As RPM went up so would the boost.

Clearly a wrong perception.

would still like to hear from others.

Sounds like you have right now Bahamabart that's the same way mine works and I had mine installed by my Mini dealer
