I was looking into this kit as well, but I was also looking into [size=-1]www.autoenginuity.com has some nice features. Not sure what standard the Mini cooper uses, but I do not see why it would not work.

I have the autoenginuity kit and it works great. I chose it because of the availability of a wireless bluetooth link. I use it with my Tungsten T3 as well as with my laptop.

Only if you would want to do data logging on the car. But if your wanting to pull codes or any other diagnostics on the car, then I see it not being much of an issue. I think I am going to be placing an order for the autoenginuity kit as i like the feature where it can give you basic run numbers for 1/4 times, hp and torq. etc. Even though i already have a g-tech. I think it is worth the money in the long run.

Well I would think that it would have to be hooked up to get the realtime gauges to work wouldn't it?

You can move the OBDII connector.

Then it won't be hitting your clutch foot. For those of you that have gone this way, what's your data rate? I have the CarChip E/X and it's a 5 second rep rate. Wayyyyyyy too slow. Seams that OBDII is a pretty slow interface. There's a streaming mode where it just sends the numbers over, but the software has to support it. That looks like it will get to better than a second if you aren't looking for too many variables.
Has anyone used a CAN bus logger for the Mini? This should be much faster.....

Thanks for anyone's help...
Matt

They list and recommend an extension cable for cars w/ the port under the drivers side dash.

correct me if im wrong but the ross-tech system is not even released yet and will be in the Beta stages,
it will be a great tool for diagnostics and programming control modules
but that is some time away,
I was looking at the Autotap for the graphic display it offers
as I am working on a nice idea and want to extract as much info from the OBDII as I can and this is the only scan tool with a user defined GUI

i can only tell u what i knew from the vw obdii scanner i bought for vw. it worked really well. it translated all the DTC codes into text. you could make graphs and stuff.

can any obdii scanner have the ability to change all the user settings on your mini? like follow me home lights, remote window open, auto unlock etc?
