A vacuum will have to be put on the system to remove any air and water vapor that is in the system. If the system has been open to the atmosphere it may also ne neccesary to "flush" the system to remove any conatminants. The system will then need to be charged with the proper amount of freon. The "proper amount" is critical! It is no longer acceptable to just charge it until it is cold. This job is best left to someone with the tools and knowledge to do it right.
