Great info! Is the oil filter before or after the oil cooler on the MCS?

GreatBear those are good points

So, temp. sender in filter canister and pressure sender and OEM sender in T on engine block.

I believe it's before. Pan => pump => filter => cooler => engine oil galleries.

I would be interested as well. Will you (and your MINI) be around at the chili cookoff Friday night?

I can't answer that question, but would like to bring up a related point. The drain plug oil temp senders are made of fragile brass and have to be torqued to a rather low value: just 11 ft-lb in the case of the VDO sender I installed several years ago in my M3. There's a pretty good risk of it getting over-torqued and broken unless you do all your own oil changes - and maybe even then!

For that reason I eventually relocated mine to an oil distribution block at the oil filter housing. Although it's now not really in a moving stream of oil - more like a backwater - the typical temperature readings haven't changed, rather to my surprise.

Just something else to consider when planning.

On the 05 MCS I have the factory chrono Pack, so the sender is wherever Mini put it (I haven't looked yet).

The oil distribution block I installed on the M3 fits on the back of the oil filter housing using the existing tapped hole for the stock oil pressure warning switch. The distribution block provides mounting for both oil pressure and temp senders.
