Bonnet Stuck

The bonnet latch on the passenger side will not release. The driver's side releases fine but the other side is stuck. Is there a manual way to release it? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

The more I look at this thing the uglier it gets. The cable for that latch inside the car is slack. I'm begining to think the cable came off of the mechanism that releases the latch. I'm looking at my other Cooper and I can't see anyway to get to that latch from the outside *sigh*. Ideas, anyone, Bueller, Bueller?

I beleive I read a how-to on mini2 that said you had to remove the tire and reach up that way.

I just checked mine. Look behind the hood release when you pull it. There are two cables, one is terminated in white (left) the other blue (bingo) pull it. The classic approach might help also, 2 people, One pulls cable, the other smachs the hood with palm of hand. There is access if you turn your wheel hard right(easier if removed) there is a cutout that seemingly goes nowhere, behind and bove it, remove plastic screw, pull inner fender out some & you should be able to push cable where it attaches to latch foward (toward front of car) The first should work if you say "open *@#^! says-a-me" Tell me which works -K-

Thanks guys, I had already attempted pulling the cable from inside the car with someone outside working the bonnet to no avail. When moving the cable back and forth you can hear a sound like its moving, but nothing happens. I think it became dislodged from the trigger on the latch, which means I'll be diving in behind the wheel . Wish me luck!!

Eureka!! tradiuz & namwob, you were right - removing the tire and pulling back the inner fender gave me access to the latch. The cable had come off of the trigger like I guessed. I'm glad I had my MC here too so I knew what I was looking for. Thanks for the help guys... the nearest MINI dealership is over 100 miles from here so you saved me a ton of time.

Be sure to check out the MINI2 FAQ on this. They show how to fix the latch using two nylon wire ties so it doesn't happen again.
