SRS light on 2006 R53 MCS

Seems like this was a common problem for years but not so much now. I've had the SRS light on for a while. Changed out the passenger occupancy sensor yesterday, verified today with Bavarian Technic it's active with no errors. Still have the light. It took me a while to find the problem under the airbag controller. Error 114 Seat position sensor KBUS error is active and returns as fast as I clear it. Dealer thinks it's the belt pretensioner that is causing the problem. I don't agree with that opinion. Anyone ever seen this error? Not really interested in blindly throwing parts at the problem but do want the airbags to work. Seat rails are a little more than $500 without the pretensioner.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Could it be a blown Battery Safety Terminal for the airbag has blown?
The air bag light on the center speedo (non chrono gauges) will be illuminated.
There is an inexpensive fix for it should that be the case.

The error states seat position sensor. Have you tried replacing that sensor? (it's different from the occupancy sensor)

My dealer insists there is no seat position sensor on a 2006. There is a circular plastic housing attached to the inboard seat rail on both front seats with a woven cloth tape fastened to the forward part of the seat rail. It could be a tape style position sensor or it could be something else. I didn't find anything searching the web for the manufacturer or part number of the circular plastic housing.

For the sake of argument let's say there is no position sensor. Can anyone provide a different explanation for MRS error 114? My data comes from Bavarian Technic version 1.9.7 updated on 17 July 2024.
