I bet the replacement on the FRM to an updated unit designed to resist corrasion, quick fix? And maybe they look at the drain tube?

Letters does not go out till July. So until you get the letter I don't think you can schedule?

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...le-recall.html That's the extension.

Post online:
" The bulletin they released to the dealers as a heads up does not mention fire hazard whatsoever lol. They crash and corrode for sure but can’t say we’ve ever seen one cause a fire. The bulletin also states it’s still safe to continue using your car if it does not have a crashed FRM."

Pretty sure salt isn't the reason why these are failing - just bad design

Your
profile says you’re in Texas? Part of the recall is location base. Northern cars are more prone to corrosion from salt use in winter, which is part of the recall statement.

Got my notice in from BMW, in ontario canada 2010 cooper s, they just did mine last year due to it losing all functions, now I am on the wait list for replacement again due to fire risk. BMW is an hour away and it took them a whole day to replace the last one.
At least it at no cost..lol..

What a joke... Received another recall notice letter in the mail yesterday. Decided I would finally go down to the local dealer and inquire about having the work scheduled. Was basically told to go pound sand because my car is not having issues. Service Advisor told me that unless the car started having problems, they were told to do nothing and ignore the recall. I'm going to have to call Mini Corporate....

So how does this work - can you complain that you already had it replaced out of pocket because you were affected before the recall and get it refunded?

Mine is a slicktop so not surprised I haven't received a letter.
Would be interesting to see what the fix is. Could just be local to the FRM, whether increased waterproofing through component change/coating/case/splash guard.

I've wondered about that as well. Is the dealer/Mini under any obligation to compensate if you had to fix the issue out of pocket before the recall was ready to be remedied?
